McPherson HS will be hosting the 1st ever Kansas Girls High School Wrestling Championships on February 11th. 36 schools have confirmed to participating in this event (we do expect to add a few more schools before the 11th).

I wanted to get this info to you, in the event you would like to cover the tournament, or have additional questions.

This is not a KSHSAA sanctioned State Tournament; however all participants are members of their KSHSAA sponsored school program.

We are working hard to get female wrestlers more opportunities to wrestle against their own gender, with the end goal of having girls wrestling as its own division for KSHSAA post-season events.

Tournament will be run on Track Wrestling.

Medals will be presented to the top four wrestlers in each weight class.

The team champion will be presented with a plaque.

The Wrestle Like a Girl organization will be on site, and will present an award for the "Tournaments Most Outstanding Wrestler".

Katherine Fulp-Allen Shai will be on site as the USA Wrestling elite athlete representative to support the event.

We anticipate members of the USA Women’s Olympic/National Coaching Staff will be in attendance as well.

Select members of the coaching staff for the Ottawa University Women’s Wrestling Team will also be on site.

Don't miss out on the opportunity to see history!

Gardner Edgerton will be sending two girls to compete. This is an awesome thing for wrestling in Kansas. Good luck to all the competitors.
