Junior 113 — Kyle Biscoglia (Iowa) vs. Eric Barnett (Wisconsin): Biscoglia is a two-time Iowa state champ who’s ranked No. 15 nationally by InterMat. Barnett is a Wisconsin state champ and Fargo All-American who opened the tournament with an injury default win against Fargo Cadet freestyle champ Ridge Lovett.
Junior 113 — Cody Phippen (Missouri) vs. Michael Spangler (Kansas): Phippen has two Missouri state titles and Fargo All-America honors on his resume. Spangler is a two-time Kansas state champ.
Junior 138 — Gary Joint (California) vs. Parker Filius (Montana): Joint, a Fresno State recruit, claimed a California state title earlier this month. Filius is a Purdue-bound senior who won four state championships in Montana.
Cadet 120 — Diego Guerrero (Arizona) vs. Joseph Martin (California): Guerrero is a sophomore who captured his second Arizona state title last month. Martin is a rising star in California, where he won the California World Challenge Varsity title in the fall at 115 pounds. The eighth grader pinned his first two opponents Friday.
Cadet 120 — Bret Minor (Kansas) vs. Christopher Kelly (Arizona): Minor, a Kansas state champ, scored bonus points in both of his bouts in Friday’s opening session. Kelly is an Arizona state finalist who outscored his first two opponents 11-1.
