I have often wondered, do we get KCKCC as a free venue? I get the feasibility, but if they don't even have a wrestling program, why have the event there?

Just guessing here, but it has to be a venue in Kansas City to attract the crowds needed. It would not the get same support in Baldwin or Atchison. Those are the closest 2 college programs I can think of.

The event definitely needs to be in a metro location. And as centrally located as possible for both KS/MO teams.

I have no clue yet what the lineups will look like. This is just me guessing at potential matchups. Naturally with the weight allowance, and teams wanting to win, kids will shift weights on what they are competing at:
Kansas Missouri
113 Ryan Ware vs. Clay Singh
120 Mason Turner vs. Cody Phippen
126 Jace Koelzer vs. Weston Diblasi
132 Noah Nemer vs. Blake Berryman
138 Jevon Parish vs. Jett Merlo
145 Conner Ward vs. Josh Steele
152 Jarrett Bendure vs. Joe Biondo
160 Isaiah Luellen vs. Brett Heil
170 Jon Trowbridge vs. Blake Hopson
182 Nick Jouret vs. Dakota Schmidt
195 Anthony Goana vs. Brett Campbell
220 Cordel Duhart vs. Zach Elam
HWT Tylen Wallace vs. Sage Smart

I might be a homer but I think you have to find a spot for Terrell Garraway (Olathe North) to good of a wrestler to leave off this team. I would also give Javier Contreras (Olathe North) a look as well. Should be a pretty salty team for Kansas, always look forward to this event.

I like Contreras, but it is pretty loaded up and down with Parish below 145 and Bendure at 152...Ward has a win over him. Terrell could easily make 170 and hit that line too. I also like Murray and or Habben at 132, but Nemer will likely be undefeated this year, and has 2 other trips to the finals. Others I thought of were Tate Steele, Jake Patterson, Gable Howerton and Jake Miller. I know they usually get the teams right after state. Missouri will likely have their team wrapped up this weekend. Naturally, it is all speculation and I know you can usually drop a full weight class than what you are competing in.

We don't need to have it in Baldwin or Atchison...You can have it at a high school, that venue at KCCCC isn't that big compared to some larger metro high schools. It is a high school All Star Event. Host it on a rotating basis with KC area schools that would be willing to host. I don't like KCK hosting if they have no intent to add wrestling.

... but KCKCC is mostly a neutral site!

This could be the biggest margin of victory for the KS team in a long time.

Spectrum Sports will air the 2018 Metro Classic as their Game of the Week and replay several times in the following weeks.
-(Spectrum Sports was previously known as Metro Sports)
Missouri Wrestling will also be covering the event with in depth coaches interviews and post match interviews for both teams as well as have match footage for those that don't have Spectrum Sports.

I would have liked to see Mason Turner in this event but I realize it's hard to pick the best at each weight class, I've enjoyed watching him the last 4 years.
