Kansas Wrestling!

I am working on the 2018-19 All-Class Ranking, pre-season release on Tuesday, October 16th! Many coaches, parents and wrestlers have sent me their projected weights. Please continue to send those to me via PM, text or e-mail.

I can almost hear the FIRST WHISTLE!

Kansas Proud!

Can you post your criteria for the rankings before the season starts? Also I am wondering if you are willing to use a couple selected individuals (Coach, referee, etc) in the rankings process to come up with a more well rounded ranking platform. I have seen some selections made from what seems to be biased on who is on your dual teams year in and year out. I personally don't think this should play a factor.

Thoughts?

The kids on the dual teams are the ones winning state so it comes to reason they are ranked pretty high...

Yes and No......really what it comes down to is one state champ being ranked over another in these so called All Class rankings. If it's just one mans opinion then why don't we all just have our own rankings and print up a bunch of our own shirts with our own All Class Team....lol. Wrestling in this state is very political just like what we see on tv every week. All I am looking for is a ranking system that is based on more than one mans opinion. There have been years and years of the same situations at the end of the year. If there were more ranking officials, like one from each class it would give theses rankings more credibility. Is that a bad thing?

The rankings are based on known criteria, including the obvious HTH and Commons. A comprehensive analysis will include state/national placings and margin of victory with quality of competition weighing heavily. Every ranking on earth includes subjectivity and the rankings are NOT an attempt to predict future results. The vast majority of feedback that I get is strongly positive. Most comments include the opinion that I rank western wrestlers too high. Having said that, I firmly believe that many Western Kansas wrestlers have a superior work ethic and tend to over achieve even without traveling nationally. That's what make this the greatest sport on earth!

As I have stated for over a decade, if you disagree with a ranking, present your criteria and make your case. I always appreciate the input!

I just tried to message you but your profile is not accepting messages...
