Wichita Northwest 5A, Marcelo Martinez 132, is spelled with one L and he is a sophomore, not a sr.

Can you give me some info on how you rank teams? Specifically 4a as Marysville has beat Scott City in team scoring at Abilene and won all their tournaments but Beloit losing to only BVSW. Don’t necessarily have a problem with it just wondering the justification

It is figured by the possible points they could score at state. Your ranked wrestlers have the most to do with where the team is ranked.

Don’t necessarily have a problem with it just wondering the justification Great question Josh. I can include my explanation, maybe the 4A guys can also. The Class rankings are a state bracket scenario for that class only. In that Abilene tournament, there were three 5A schools and some 3A schools. That alters the results depending on the strength of each bracket. Other factors include the possibility that some teams were not at full strength. Once the weekly rankings are finished, the ranked wrestlers are assigned the typical point totals for that anticipated placing. Other team wrestlers are then added by their potential to win matches at state but not place points. Certainly, while there is subjectivity in any ranking, they are never to be considered predictions. They are only based on known criteria to the ranker. Thanks for asking! Chief

For the 4A rankings, we use a points system (26 pts for a #1, 21, 17, 14, 9, 7, and 2 pts for "others"). Hope that helps!

In keeping with your scenario Chief, I thought I had a good grasp until I looked at the rankings again and noticed in class 5A for example, KMC is ranked 10th with one ranked wrestler, and WNW isn't ranked with 3 ranked wrestlers. So...I'm confused again. Based on your explanation, are you placing more value to KMC's unranked wrestlers, than WNW? If that's it, then I answered my own question. Thanks for any help and your patience in explaining.
