I may be alone on this one, but I liked the schedule change for state placing matches all being wrestled at the same time. I know this was due to the weather, but I like it better than having 5th place matches in one round. Then 3rd place matches in one round. Then championships. It seemed like the atmosphere was a little more electric. Also there are some dang good 3rd place wrestlers that just happened to be on the wrong side of the bracket.

Agree 100%, same for 4A. Lot better & hope we do it every year now. Lot of noise & action. You had 6 fan sections yelling & getting into it, made for way better atmosphere.

There definitely was more energy at the 4A tournament than in past years. I think some of that can be contributed to the team race not being completely decided until late as well as the announcers and their enthusiasm. The announcers did an amazing job all weekend introducing the wrestlers, and letting the fans know when and where the marque match ups were taking place and giving the fans some detail on the wrestlers and their past state placings. The music selection and the decibel levels added to the excitement as well. I didn't know the sound system there was as good as it was. Best State tournament I've been too!

I will say however, showcasing the finals under the lights is a pretty special experience that I personally don't want to get away from.

It would be great to get an announcer who is capable of doing this at the 321-A tournament. It is painful year in and year out to listen to the same gentleman butcher the wrestler's names, records & accolades over the loud speaker.

They have 2 announcers at the tournament in 321a. One of them butchers every name and every record in every weight class. One of them does not. But every single year the insist on having the one that butchers it badly do the announcing for the finals. I dont get it. I also liked having it all at once but i would make one small change. Runn 3 mats for finals. Wrestle 3rd and 4th and 5th and 6th at the same time at 106. Then stop and wrestle 1st and 2nd. Then do it again for each weight. I feel like the kids that made the finals had a little bit taken away from them.

We had two announcers as well, and they were both spot on, and we're not sharing ... wink

Running 3 mats for the finals and wrestling the Championship after the 3/4 & 5/6 place matches isn't a bad idea. Keeps the team point race interesting and gives the finalists their due spotlight. I like it!

Placing at State is a big deal! The kids efforts should be rewarded I think. We blow through all the other rounds with multiple mats running at the same time to speed up the process. I don't mind 3/4 & 5/6 at the same time, but The Chip should be a show! I would love a full bio of each wrestler and a light on the mat. You for sure should have your best announcer running the mic. 5A/6A was pretty good, but the 4A Championships were better last year. I don't see a need to rush through the best match ups of the weekend. Maybe start earlier on Friday and get an extra round of backside in. This would help with the Saturday run and allow the extra time for the placing matches. Just my two cents.

I thought the way the state finals was run this year was good. I would like to see it the same way for the next couple of years. The 3rd and 4th place matches were great.
