Ghens:

My son is Jacob Nowak, STA. He took third at State last year at 10 & under, 120. He only lost two matches last year and they were both to Ryan Garrett. Unfortunately, he had to wrestle Ryan in the semi-final so Jacob did not get to wrestle for second place, but you can't control what side of the bracket you get on. Jacob got pinned by Ryan at Salina in the third period, but only lost to him 6-2 at State (we felt pretty good about that showing). Jacob weighs 127 right now and is growing so he could end up at 140, depending on where his teammate EJ Walter ends up. EJ is a second year 12 and under and handles Jacob pretty well at practice and EJ pinned Jacob in their only match two years ago at the 2001 Johnson County Classic. EJ is a bigger threat to place at State in this division than Jacob. This year could be a challenge for Jacob and we would be very pleased if he just made it to State.

I don't know who beat Dustin Moses last year, but unfortunately, Jacob drew Dustin in the first round of State in 2001. It was not pretty, worse than Nebraska vs. KSU today. I'm kind of surprised that you think Dustin may end up at 140. I think he was wrestling at 115 early last year. We are looking forward to the start of the season. I'm impressed with your son's record and I will try to watch him wrestle this year. Actually I want to see all of these young wrestlers that you have mentioned. They are quite a group. I wish you and your family continued success. Thank you again for your updates.
