1A through 6A who would the real state champion be if we had Grand State? Wouldn't it really be nice to know? I personally wouldn't have a clue and couldnt pick the champs. Are their any opinions on who the real state champs would be if we had Grand State?

Man that would be great to see. My old coach is a Grand State champ. Roy "Munson".....I mean Oeser. I think it would shut many bias people up. I wonder if there is a way people could get that started again.

Back in 98 I saw Bo Maynes wrestle Dusty Spaulding and the Junction City trny. At state I later saw Bo win 5a and Dusty win 6a. Zach Roberson would have won it when he graduated. Ubben that wrestled for Pillipsburge might have won it when he gradutated. Sorry if some of these names are not familar.

All are tough wrestlers in college too. - Bo Maynes was ranked as high as 8th in the country at 125lbs and was a 2x NCAA qualifer I believe. Won a lot of matches for OU. - Roberson was a 3x All-American for Iowa State. One of those All-American showings was a national championship - Ubben is a standout heavy for Ft. Hays and is an All-American also. - Dusty I believe is ranked right now in the nation at 133lbs. He is cutting real hard for it too.

Ubben was national runner up last year, getting hurt in the finals. Who knows if he would have been able to wrestle the whole match he might have won it all.

At some big tourneys such as the bobcat and the newton tournament, there are similarities to a grand state. Just look at 171 and 189 at the Bobcat saying that the guys ranked number 1 will win state. Which you can never say that before state is all over...

Mr. Church. Great idea, probably never happen as a single event. However, you can find those match ups throughout the year if you know who the champions are and their schedules. For instance last year at 112 R.J Nill (Basehor Champ) wrestled Isaac Wall (Newton Champ) at the BVNW tournament.
