straight from the topeka capital journal

Clay Center 33 Manhattan 25

was anybody there to clarify this? i know the capital journal has screwed up a few scores in it's day.

also wasn't manhattan riding a pretty lofty dual streak?

I did this match on the radio last night. Yes Clay Center did win. It was a great match. Clay Center won the first two. Manhattan won the next four. Then back and forth. Pivotal point Schoenfeld and Allen went to the final seconds with Manhattan winning 6-5. Lund (tech fall), Gunter (pin) and Marrs (pin) put it away for the Tigers.

It was a fun match to be a part of. The last dual Manhattan lost before their streak started was to Clay Center.

I'm pretty sure that Manhattan had won at least 50 straight duals in a row. There last lost before last night's was also against the Tigers in 2001.

Baxter, Baxter is that you? Bark twice if your in Milwaukee.

Wow! That would have been a fun dual to see. I remember 2001 hearing all the chaos when Clay beat Manhattan. Those teams are two that when you put together typically put up a dog fight.

I was there... Good duel... lots of fun. Clay dominated the upper weight with some big time points. The Allen vs. Schoenfeld match absolutely great the both left every thing they had on the mat. Very physical... Allen bloody nose first period, Schoenfeld bloody nose second period. This was what wrestling is all about! The Hat's hat is off to Clay, great job guys! I couldn't think of a better bunch to end the 55 streak.

You have to keep in mind that Manhattan also wrestled a first year wrestler in one of the upper weights and not to mention that the Indians also werent quite at full strength with the usual squad. The streak ends so we have to start again

He was a monster when it came to size! Big kid...very aggressive and strong. I just whish we would have had our #1 D. Monroe and I could have given you a better analysis. He looked very solid fundamentally, should make some noise.

I had to sit out 2 duals in order to go to FHSU. If I knew what FHSU was like I might not have sat out for the dual against Clay Center.
