A loss to a state ranked kid will drop you out if it happens at the state tournament. There is no BCS in wrestling and a KWCA ranking will not get you a seed at a tournament. A ranking is a way of saying, "hey, nice job so far, we think that you might do pretty well this year, good-luck!" They are also organized in order to create discussion amongst the wrestling community.

You worry too much. No, I do not have a top ten, it is hard enough maintaining a top 6. What I have is a data base of wrestlers that I have acquired from coaches and from looking on the Internet, that can move in and out depending on how they perform. Identifying the top six wrestlers out of the 61 4A schools that offer wrestling is virtually impossible, especially numbers 3-6 and I know that there are worthy athletes out there that may be over-looked. I do the best with the information that is made available to me.

Fortunately, these rankings have absolutely no baring on the state tournament, so I don't worry too much. I just want to get the kids recognized that have performed well to this point.

And yes, when kids don't perform up to their rankings, that opens the door for someone else to have their accomplishments recognized. If you are ranked fourth and you lose to number three, why would that change the rankings? It would appear to me that I had them right in the first place.

Now that certification has taken place and teams have full rosters, they will be updated every week late on Sunday nights after I have had time to check all the results from Cosmo's page and check my e-mails from coaches.
