I have seen a number of female wrestlers both in KS and MO, and we pulled for one poor gal from Raytown who was something like 0-17 when she came into a tourney I was at this year. By the end of the tourney, she was 1-21. She finally beat this poor guy, who was totally embarassed afterward. I sure hope he didn't have a long bus ride home with his team! The biggest problem I have seen with the female wrestlers is that they lack the upper-body strength. For the most part, they don't want to work out in the wt. room because of how it shapes their upper- body. I am thrilled to hear that there are some really great female wrestlers and hope someday soon to see one wrestle. Kudos ladies! And guys...a loss is a loss. If it's too a good wrestler, it shouldn't matter!

I remember my freshman year at state, my first match was against Brooke Bogren(SP?). I was a nervous wreck.

i think it is great to see girls interested in the sport of wrestling, i just don't agree with them wrestling guys. a guy cannpt win in that situation, if he wins, then he should of, but if he loses, then he is made fun of b/c he lost to a girl. there are a lot of talented female wrestlers out there, i just don't think they belong on the mat with the guys, it puts kids in an uncomfortable position.

The 215 girl from Mulvane wasn't allowed to wrestle at the Bishop Carroll to tourney this past year. Since Carroll is a privte school that can do that. She did beat our JV 215 guy and even our assistant coaches made fun of him, the poor guy
