Kansas Wrestling Forums General Discussion High School Top teams and individuals in 5a

The season has yet to even start, and the actual wrestling will spell out the true champions, but just for grins. Who are the top five teams in 5a?
What individuals should do well over the season?
This is a lot of speculation as previous year wrestlers will no doubt find another weight class, but let's see what the forum thinks.

I think that Turner will surprise a lot of people this year. Huslse will be very dominating this year. Flamez got a lot bigger. Figge will want to finally win a state title. Steinmatz will want the title back. They have a knew heavy-weight that is pretty good. Jones will be cutting weight, and will be very strong. They have a lot of other good kids. They will be tough this year. Top 3 at state.

What weight are Hulse and Flamez planning on wrestling at?

Hulse will go 130 and Flamez will go 135.

campus has been climbing the up the ladder these past couple of years. they might do well.

Luke Zouzas is an outstanding wrestler.

Campus is making great improvement...I look for some good individuals from them. Where do Goddard and Ark City stand this year? And what about both Salina schools...are they 5A?

Both Salina Schools are 5A. We (South) look to have a pretty good lineup this season. We have 7 state qualifiers returning, 39 points, and some good incoming freshman. In looking at 5A, I think things are going to be really interesting this year. There are some great teams in 5A this year, with solid lineups and alot of points. I know Central returns with a good heavyweight, 215, and 171 pounder. I don't know much else of Central.

What about Shawnee Heights?? They have to be one of the best 5A schools out there. With Gardner leading the way they will place in the top 3 at state.

I know I am obviously bias for Carroll, seeing as I graduated from there this past year, but I think they should do well again this year. They have a very good 103 pounder coming in if he can put on a little weight, Brown should place high. Both of the Sponsels should do well, Loos is also returning and they should have a good heavy weight this year too.

The Bishop Carroll wrestling team will have 4 Sponsels in the line up, 160 - 215. They also have 4 states placer returning and some pretty good 9th graders in the line up. I think they will develop into a good team by the time state gets here.
