Kansas Wrestling Forums General Discussion High School New Football Playoffs

Now that the KSHSAA has added another week to High School Football. What is this going to do to High School wrestling? I have always thought it was hard enough to get wrestlers ready for that first match. But some will not get there wrestlers till after Thanksgiving. I know that you are only looking at a few teams. But 8 school in each class will never have to worry about buffer week. They will still be playing football.Maybe they should look at doing away with that dead week over Christmas. Has anyone else thought about this?

I'm not sure it's going to have that much effect. Sure, there will be a handful of schools that will be missing kids, but do we really want to start reworking everything before we see how it works the first year or so? Besides, until it effects basketball, nothing will get done about it!

I think the KSHSAA has opened a BIG can of worms with this one. Maybe the board will see before it becomes final. BB is in the same boat as WR. If FB had to add, why not on the front side? I would hate to see the dead week over Christmas go away as that is family time. (I have observed in the past(in NE)the gym open on Christmas day for wrestling)

i really like the new playoff system. I think it will work out just fine. as for buffer week-do away with it.
