103-Bridgeford omaha-burke d. Furches Furches dominates Kansas gets dominated by Nebraska-great kid, good sport 112-Caldwell dominates Stephens Caldwell's great wrestling overshadowed by his great mistake of unsportsmanship-horrible! 119-Livengood wins by default over Altman Altman avoids being manhandled in front of home crowd. Livengood still the top of class 125-Shumate md. Tanenbaum Freedman dosn't belong in the top eschelon of these wrestlers who both showed class and technique; Caldwell could take a lesson in sportsmanship from these two 130-Detmer beats Somers 5-3 Good tough match, 2 very good wreslters 135-Koehn d. Price 3-1 Koehn uses technique and stalling to win a tough match 140-Arnold d. Haist 9-4 Balanced but weak weight class with Arnold clearly being the best-others are pretenders 145-Hynick d. Bonewell Best match of the nite- Bonewell wrestled a boneheaded match as Hynick was clearly the more intelligent wrestler though Bonewell had more skills just not the brains 152-Beard d. Lous Beard dominated. Hopefully his sportsmanship can rub off on his coaches and team mates-an outstanding kid/wrestler 160-Crouch d. Fairley Fairley is quite athletic but needs a lot of work on technique if he wants to elevate to the next level 171-Elliott D. Michael good, smart wrestling, good sportsmanship, an entertaining high quality match 189- Hardy p. Bruce Hardy dominates a weak weight class 215-Sparks b. Garcia somewhat of an upset in a slow, boring match 275-Henry b. Lewis typical big man match

As he put Stevens in a saturday night ride, he then looked up at the crowd and made #1's with his fingers as the ref called the pin.

Matdog, appreciate your comments about Nathan. I wouldn't say Nathan "dominates" Kansas. I would say that in this match, he was dominated and he wrestled Bridgeford's match. After speaking to him last night, along with several others, I and I know Nathan, wishes he could wrestle it over. There is no doubt in my mind that Bridgeford is a great little wrestler, very physical and tough. If Nathan ever gets "mean" when he wrestles, much like Bridgeford, he will be a much better wrestler. Congrats to all who did well, especially Bridgeford who won a good 103 class. I think he wrestled his best match against Nate and that match was well received by the fans. I would especially like to thank all who applauded both boys, they both wrestled their butts off, and the appreciation of the crowd showed it.
Comment about Donnie, Donnie was injured in the semi final match the night before. I will assure you that Donnie isn't afraid of anyone and stayed out of the match for fear of further injury. I would agree with that decision, and believe that Donnie will be back, better and stronger than ever.

Matdog... 275- "Typical Big Man Match".. I don't see many big man matches that end in overtime on a freestyle 5 point Belly to Back throw. Straight over the top. While it is illegal, my athlete did not wrestler well enough to win so I didnt argue. Plus, I was stunned and amazed at the ability to throw a 250 point kid straight over the top! haha

Ricky Henry will play football at the University of Nebraska next year. He is the best lineman prospect in Omaha since Dave Rimington. Flat out, one of the meanest and nastiest kids you'll ever see on a football field.

To say that Bonewell was more skilled is a lie. The points Bonewell got were in the first when Hynick tried to throw him and got caught, and a takedown in the beginning of the match. After that, Hynick dominated him all match. Bonewell went out there cocky and full of steam, and was gassed after the first period. Hynick rode him for half the match, when nobody was able to hold him all tournament. Hynick was also able to contain Bonewell on his feet. Hynick was better conditioned, smarter, and more skilled than Bonewell. It was indeed a great match though.

ac- We've had the debate about arnold on here several times....he is legit and has dominated this year.. he also won the Newton TOC last year in a bracket with Swan of Perry, Tennant of AC. Hentzen of Maize, Moravec of Heights, Bingham of Manhattan, Kolterman of CC AS A FRESHMAN.. last year he had geoffery tucker, thomas pipes, hollis possibly? in his bracket at the easily hardest regional in 5A... he was a freshman..and is much improved with another year.. he will make noise at state and will continue to do so in the rest of his years as only a sophomore

i was just going off of matdog's comments about everyone else being pretenders when he did very well all last year just like this year and didn't qualify for state, so I would wait to hype him up till he qualify's for state, because it really doesn't matter how well you do in the regular season it all matters about the last week of the season.

and you really can't say anything about him being young, there are 4 timers isn't there, the way you guys think he's the best in the state you wouldn't have to throw as only a sophomore...

I believe in the Quarter finals

Just a comment to matdog....you wrote that Freeman doesnt belong in the top echelon well check your spelling hon because you cant even spell the word right!I dont understand your comment especially after you had already wrote in another forum that the match between Shumate and Freeman would be a good one if Freeman was healthy, and now you wrote this , so MAKE UP YOUR MIND!Just so you will know, Freeman is out there working his butt off everyday because he loves this sport so much, in pain from his torn elbow ligament, but never giving up, and yeah he didnt have his best day at Derby, but then again neither did a lot of the top wrestlers, but it doesnt take any thing away from their talent or abilities, they are all great. Before you make any more rude comments about Freeman or any of the great KS wrestlers get to know them and maybe walk in their shoes for a while.

the program from derby has beard listed as a freshman if that is true he might be one of the best freshman above 140 that I've ever seen. very impresive. He beat a state runner up and a very good wrestler in loos.

Boaz Beard is indeed a freshman, he has outstanding talent and skills. I agree that he is one of the best freshman I've seen above 140, he has a long career ahead of him and the best of luck to him.
