Someone also might want to check out Dusty Rhodes from Douglass. I was there in '87-'90 and Douglass had a streak of like 45 dual wins in a row. Dusty's been there a long time, and I'm sure he has 200 wins or more. Probably close to 300.

Larry Gabel has been the coach a Sainty since 1974, as of the end of the 2003 season he was 187-98-10. figuring that he has likely won 13 duals since then, I reckon that he is at 200 by now, but I was a bit surprised to note that he had not had more wins than that, but when you consider the fact that every year he was competing in the NWKL, you have to attach a certain premium to that, I would think. another thing about St. Frances is that in spite NEVER having less than 2 state placers EVERY SEASON SINCE 1937, no coach except Larry has ever coached there as head for more than 6 seasons, so no dynasty coachwise, Still Never getting skunked at state since 1937, even the Norton and Hoxie programs are not likely to match that statistic. I don't know where one could access the information, but it might be interesting to compare Rocky Welton's records at Goodland with the Garden City ones to give one an idea of the comparitive toughness of the two levels of competition. My thoughts would be that he likely had a better winning percentage and more state champions at Garden than at Goodland, mostly because of his competition. I also notice that while may of the fellows that compare Gabel with Lamar and Averell cite gable's age, inferring that it has taken him a long time to get to 200. Compare how many state champs they have coached-- Gabel has coached 40 state champions, I wonder how that compares? Gabel or Jackson would get my vote as best presently active coaches.

Our jabs at age are done with the utmost respect for long time friendships with one another. If you are reading anything else in there you are absolutly wrong!

Jack Thaw was the coach at Newton High for quite a few years with much success, and is now coaching a young Halstead/Sedgwick team that is doing pretty well in dual records.

A lot of old-school coaches haven't gotten to 200 wins as quickly because in prior decades it was common to only have 8-10 duals in a season. Now you can get nearly that many in one weekend with a dual tournament.

Great Job at Beloit this weekend, Harry. That son of yours is a stud!! Unfortunately, he will qualify for the old-timers circuit after this season. Then you will have to put him in his place!!

I believe coach Frohling, currently of my Russell wrestling team, coached at Wakeeney for 10+ years and should be in the neighborhood of 200 wins as well

Pat Sands at Emporia High School must be right up there. I know that Emporia went undefeated in duals for many years while coach Sands was there.

Coach Sands did win alot of duals; but the obvious question is how many times did his kids actually make weight considering he lost his job for not making his wrestlers weigh in at a regional they hosted.

I didn't want to say that even though I was thinking it. He really couldn't have cheated that many years though because he was winning when it was on-site weighin.
