If you did not know the KSHSAA will be running pilot program at the 1-3A regional and state wrestling tournament this year. They will be using the The Wrestling Tourney software. You can get more information about the software at the following address.
http://www.pes-sports.com/pe01177.htm
I presented this to Rick Bowden last April and had another meeting in early December to go over the program in more detail. There are several things that the state liked about this program. One thing is that you can do online entries. It is my understanding that all 1-3A regional tournament entries will be done on line. If everything goes as planned next year all class will have online entries for the regional tournament. next year. I will run online entries for the Holton tournament this year and so will Silver Lake. I am sure that there are other schools that are doing online entries as well. Anyone that has run a high school or regional tournament knows that fax entry form from other school are sometimes very hard to read. Online entries can be entered into the software with out any additional typing. The software is very easy to run and results can be downloaded on to the internet as they happen. As a former wrestling coach and fan I would like to some day see all high school wrestling tournament results on the internet. I think it would be great to get on to the internet and click on any tournament in the state of Kansas ans see the results.
I contacted Kevin Cotter the owner of the software and he has agreed to sell the program as a cooperative purchase (one large purchase at the same time) for $99.95 instead of the $129.95 plus shipping. If you are interested in this software e-mail bphillips@holtonks.net. I realize that there are other wrestling software companies available but this software looks to be well test and updated. This software has been used in Michigan for their regional and sate tournament for the last 7 years. I am sure there are allot of questions and hopeful I will be able to answer them. Another thing that I was hoping to do is to have training next year at the KWCA clinic in the fall. The software is really easy to run but there are always some questions that arise.

The recent Emporia High School Winter Wrestling Classic Tournament used this software and the options available for posting results online may be seen at the following link:

Emporia High School Wrestling Home Page!

After clicking on the team picture to enter, click on the link titled:

2004 Winter Wrestling Classic Brackets and Team Scores

This software has also been successfully used at the Augusta High School and Douglass High School Wrestling Tournaments the last two years.

Last year, the class 4A Regional at Andale had a successful tournament with the software.

Lastly, the individual who tracked the results at the KSHSAA State Tournament for 5A also used this software.

On a national level, the Ironman Tournament in Ohio has used this software for several years.

I attempted to use the software for a kids tournament and, due to the complexity of the tournament, five different age divisions and the many weight classifications, and my unfamiliarty with the software, I experienced some difficulty.

I am convinced this is very high quality software for a high school tournament, and with the proper training from the software vendor, would be easy to use.

Circle High School has also used this software for the past couple of years at their invitational. According to Chad Bottorff, it works really well.

Mr. Hermreck:

Yes!

The tournament software does provide for four (4) man and six (6) man round robins as well as numerous other formats which include the traditional eight (8) and sixteen (16) man brackets. There are over forty differant formats.

Sorry for the tardy reply!

The software is pretty good. I have used it to run CMSU's tournaments for the past few years. The only trouble I have found is when printing 16 and 32 man brackets the first letter in the names is cut off.
Also the easiest way to get the info into the program is to send the roster.exe program to the coaches and have them send in their wrestlers information.

I have had several coaches call about the software used for the 1-3A regionals. If anyone is still interested the cost is $99.95 plus shipping. Total is $101.50. E-mail me if you would like to order the software. bphillips@holtonks.net

This software is great, it makes for easy statistical references and a good way for college coaches to find information a.s.a.p. on possible recruits without having to skim through a bracket.
