Apparently, we can add the 2003 Garden City team to the list of all-time greats. According to the newest rankings, they're going to have 6 wrestlers in the finals and 4 State Champions, although many fans east of Hays would have a hard time naming 6 wrestlers on their team. (Obviously, this is a bit tongue in cheek--coach Fergola, keep up the good work with your thankless job doing the rankings).

Or a lot tounge in cheek. They are pretty good though I saw them early in the year. They only had one champion at the Basehor tourney or two I can't remember which but they are a good TEAM. They will place a boat load of kids.

Garden City would not do as well in 321A state. They got handled pretty well in the Colby invitational earlier this year. Hoxie beat them 45-20, thats a pretty wide margin. I guess what Im trying to say is that Garden City is good, but...

Hey Hoxie might do that to anyone. They might do that to any state tourney, but I think Garden might hold their own with everyone else.

So by adding Garden City, does that mean Hoxie 2003 is in the mix. I would think so. Say it with me now.....DOMINATION. Garden City is a tough team this year, but still lost to Hoxie by 25.

Hey I didnt add Garden to anything I just said they are a good team. Do I think Hoxie is a great team sure I do. Are they an all time great team, I don't know that is something you look back on later not forward to before they prove it. There is many a slip twinxt the cup and the lip you know. I didnt say Garden was a great team but they are a very successful team and have a chance to do well at state. I personally think Kirk has the best team in the state right now at Hoxie but I don't think that denigrates anyone else, just says a lot good about them.

Noooo, I am not making any comments like that. I think greatness is looked back on from afar. It is hard to tell on teams right now because there is no framework for that. We have a lively post on here about all time great teams with some interesting choices on there. Hey who knows this Hoxie team might be there in time. I haven't seen them personally but I know they brought a lot of quality back from a year ago. Might be who knows. Oh know this Garden City team is not nearly as good as some of their past teams. They have had some darn good teams out there for a long long time.

By the way, FYI, Thomas Rhodes is at Wichita East, not Wichita Heights, 6a 160.

The ranking that I sent in has Thomas at Wichita East. So it must have got screwed up somewhere else.

Yeah Garden City has a lot to prove to you. What have they won eight state championships or something like that. They have walked to the mat a few times out there. I am no big Garden City fan, I spent about twenty of my years trying to beat them either as a wrestler or a coach, but I sure do respect them. They've earned it over the years "on the mat".

So, Wichita Heights is behind Emporia and Junction, after beating both of them at Emporia, and then they have a tie between them...I know rankings just for fun, and Im not trying to get on Fergola, just noting some facts... thanks for the new rankings your work is appreciated by many
