Can anybody tell me what happened to the 6th person in the 5A Rankings? It used to be Kyle Lewis; and now there is none. It goes from 1st to 5th. Honestly, does 5A **** that bad that they don't deserve 6 people?

Thanks for calling that to my attention, for some reason I deleted it, but Kyle Lewis is ranked #6 in the current rankings. You can also view 5A rankings at

And no, 5A is not that bad.

I would say compared to previous years 5a is horrible this year other than carroll, goddard, and ark city.

I think horrible is a bit of a stretch. You forgot about Paola and Mulvane which should both do fairly well at state. 5A may be down a bit from years past, but there is still a lot of good competition. There are also always a few upsets and surprises which always makes state a little more interesting.

Paola? not to dog paola but or to bring up names but losing to unranked teams in duals does not show them to be a top team in 5a. They do have a good team and I'm not saying there aren't other good teams in 5a but they aren't close to the teams in 6a this year talent wise.

I would have to disagree I have always thought 5a had equal or better competition than 6a in the past years. Also schwartz lost to the freshman from campus recently, (a very good freshman) I wouldn't say he was a heavy favorite but I agree they are some of the top wrestlers in state, but as a whole they are down.Saying 5a is horrible probably was going too far. Yes we do need grand state. Not for bragging rights but because there is nothing other than HS nationals after state. and from what I've heard kids wrestling is way down.

Just out of curiousity, did you see the Schwartz and Baldrige match. I wonder how many losses Baldrige has. I know he is very good. I am expecting to see him in the top 3 in 6A.

Wrestling4life, as you probably are well aware a good tournament team is what is needed to do well in state, not necessarily a good dual team.
The last thing I want to do is to get in to the age old question of which class is tougher. I just wanted to point out that 5A is not as down as some may think. Paola has posted some pretty impressive tournament scores although I don't remember right off who they have beat in tournaments.

I saw the Baldrige match. He looked great. He never stopped and never looked tired. I am not sure how many losses he has either.

I am also sceptic about going off a team's tourney scores. I know that's what it comes down to but duals determine how good overall a team is, not just how many points you can score.

I completely agree with you on that, that's why I made the point about not knowing what teams they had beaten. I do know that it takes an above average team to score over 200 pts in any tournament. I just would not count them out of anything when it comes time for state especially with the regional that they are in. They should have the luxury of bringing most, if not all, of their team.

So, in other words your bringing up the two year, on going debate that Tanner will finally beat Devin!! For everyone's sake I hope he does so we don't have to hear about it anymore.
