I remember John Paul Shepherd wrestling hwt for Chapman in the late 90's for us. We had both made the finals of the Minneapolis tournament and were lined up according to top and bottom of the bracket. Well at 215 and 275 we both had Norton guys in the finals.
I looked next to me and thought the Norton guys are all mixed up the guy next to me might have weighed 190 soaking wet and the guy I had to face looked like a pissed off bulldog that devoured the entire buffet!
I asked the Norton kid next to me if he was sure he was in the right spot, and he said yea, "I'm the HWT!" I looked at the Bulldog across from me (who had beaten 2x 4a champ Matt Vogelsburg earlier in the tournament) and thought oh my luck.
After the introduction of the finalists I went over and talked to John Paul (keep in mind he looks like Chris Farley and is just as big). He tells me that he's going to toss around this lil punk. Well after my hard fought match which I lost by 5, John comes out to wrestle.
I just start getting my warmups back on and as I toss my top over my head I proceed to see John Paul and all of his 275lb glory get tossed like a sack of potatoes! He got launced into orbit, I mean soles of his feet saw the top of the roof! After his whooping he received I asked him how he felt.
He said, "I had him at the handshake, but then the ref had to blow that **** whistle!"
