Wow, great minds must think alike as we were all on the keys at the same time thinking about the same thing and thinking about it the same way.
To answer your question, I would rather be a four time state champion than a DI champion, but ONLY if I was also a DI all-american. So perhaps I skirted around your question. I would obviously rather win a DI title or even be a D1 all-american than be a state champion, which Erisman could still do both. If you look at the numbers, the odds, it is more unlikely that you would be a four time state champ than a DI champ. Being a four time state champion is a great and I mean great accomplishment. Look at all of the "great" wrestlers who never won four state titles or even three and I am not talking about just Kansas. Look at John Smith, he only won two. I do agree that if Erisman only wins one state title or even none, being a DI all-american would be better than having a "sparkling" high school career with nothing after that to show for it. I guess what I am saying in poker terms is that four state titles do not beat a DI title but four state titles and a DI all-american honor do. High school should definately not define a career. I believe that to truly be considered with the greatest of the "greats", you must have success beyond high school and even beyond that. Mehringer only won one title but that Olympic Gold carries more weight when discussions of who is the "greatest" comes up. But I am not tabing Erisman for any of that yet, so do not rage on me.

Just to add fuel to the fire, was Luedke one of the best wrestlers to come from Kansas? He did not win a state championship until he defeated Erisman in the finals with a controversial win! Now, Luedke is a 2X national champ and wrestles for Iowa.

If I am not mistaken Kendall Cross never won a High school State Championship either.I think that Olympic gold medal sure makes up for that.

As info, Neil Erisman took a total of 3:10 to dispatch of 3 opponents (including Mamie of STA) to reach the finals of the Bobcat Classic. Wish I could have been there to see that!

Yeah. In the semi-finals, Erisman took Mamie down quite quickly. And pinned him soon after in the 1st period. It was quite an impressive show to watch Erisman wrestle this weekend.

I just realized the acbulldog is most likely Neal's coach. The old "use the talk forum to motive ploy" seems to have worked.

Erisman wont have much of a challenge this year, it ought to be more exciting to watch who comes in 2nd or 3rd in 171. eck looks good even though he jumped up from 145. other than him i dont think anyone will give erisman even a challenge, but dukes or farliegh may cause eck some problems if they meet.
