He did do a great job at state this year, and the future looks pretty good for him. Not trying to take anything away from him but there were some kids that performed all year long on very high level. Again I watched his match with Seth and in the finals. He did great.

4A-Grater 5A-Baldridge 6A-Cisper
Runner Ups- 4A-Taplin 5A-Deshazer 6A-Elliot
So many more good ones though. Hard to judge this award. These are just my opinions and not set in stone facts. I seen a bunch of good kids deserving and top awards this week-end.
Good job Kansas!

I think the award out of every wrestler should go to a Freshman, Elliot 4A 135 for possibly starting a 4 year undefeated streak lets see if he can keep it up

Elliot did win state undefeated as a freshman, but had some real close matches with some guys that he probably shouldn't have being undefeated. I think he'll have 3 losses by the time he's done in college, but not much more.

Well what about Tristen Deshazer, he was out on the mat a total of 3 minutes and 32 seconds!!! , it takes longer than that to eat a tray of nachos.

Hard to take anything away from Taplin, In the State finals he wrestled a fine multi-year placer, an undefeated one at that, took down and pinned a guy that has the second most takedowns in a season ever recorded. Grater had less competition, and in the match with Mettlin of Scott city was not an overpowering win, 5-1 I think. Taplin had no trouble with anyone, and there were some very very good wrestlers in that bracket, Eden, Chenowith, etc. My prediction is that when we compare senior champs to the other guys at the senior nationals, Taplin will go farther than Grater or any other Kansas wrestler.
