Cody Bell is from Baesor, and is ranked 1st in 4A 112. Does anyone know how much he was cutting. It must have been a lot, or else he just isn't very smart about his weight.

I think that is very irresponsible to accuse Cody of mismanaging his weight. Was he cutting alot? Probably. The question that arose during the regional was this. We wrestled two front side matches and one back side round and due to the excessive number of Byes on the only back side round, every class except 135, 152, 160, and 275 began the weigh-in hour immediately following the conclusion of the quarter final matches instead of starting the hour after the consolation round. It was easily an hour or more difference in time allowed to work your weight off. Granted the weigh-in schedule was announced over the speaker however, it was during the quarter final round which meant that the time had already started clicking. Cody was close on weight however, (half a pound) and we all know what we could do with an extra hour. I am not offering excuses nor am I arguing the ruling of tournament officials, (I would have however if he was my wrestler) and I am sure he was represented well by his coaches, but I do want to point out that he should not be labeled "Stupid" or "Inept" in any way as this is a tremendous misfortune of circumstances. Cody is a quality wrestler who in my opinion would have claimed the state title next weekend. I am an opposing coach (Piper)who has a wrestler at that weight that will benefit from this incident however, no one in this sport wants to benefit solely on the misfortune of others. We all work and dream to be the quality of wrestler that Cody is and to get down on him now instead of finding a way to help and support him is an attitude that this wrestling community does not need.

Thats a shame, I know Cody well and feel really bad for him. It happens and it is always a sad deal when it does.

cody got a extra pound and he new in the morning when he weighed in that he was close so it was his own fault you think by now he would have learned not to eat and drink alot after weigh in

When kids come in that much over weight it makes you wonder if they have really been making weight all year!

Jeez Bigpin---that is a pretty low blow. Do you realize what you just said about the kid and Coach Neil. That is ridiculous.

That is really rediculous if you knew Coach Neil he is a real straight shooter and that is an offensive statement by somebody who has no idea what he is talking about.

BigPin---

What a ridiculous statement to make...I've known Scott Neil for a long time and he's a person who, if his kids are screwing up in one fashion or another, they won't wrestle...He and AD Joe Keeler have always been honest...If one of Scott's kids don't make weight at weigh-in time, he'll pull them out of the dual/tournament...And he'll make darn sure to get his point across to the kid (Trust me, I've heard a few of his talks)...Scott would rather compete w/ 5-6 JV kids who have a heart, than compete w/ 14 kids who don't give a rat's a**...

I believe you owe Scott, Cody, Joe and the B-L team and school an apology
