Ok I know throughout the year we've talked about Andale's freshman as well as Madison from Salina Central as being fantastic freshman, but I just realized a name that slipped way under the radar:
135 Scott Elliott of Augusta is undefeated at like 30-0 entering the regional today! I don't know what kind of competition he has in the area he's in down that way but 30-0 is still pretty hard for anybody to do regardless of geographic area in the state!

Wow! I still can't believe there hasn't been more talk on him though...should be interesting to see if he can keep that slate clean and go undefeated this year.

Ok, here's trivia (I don't know the answer) but how many guys have gone undefeated in Kansas as a freshman? (Since he's on the cusp of possibly doing it).

Is there anybody else? Surely somebody has done it freshman year then lost during the course of next 3 years or moved away.

its one thing to go undefeated at 103 or 112 as a freshman cause of the age difference but in 135 there is alot more seniors and juniors so it is a big honor for him to have come this far...

Scott has been very fortunate so far this year. Personally I hope that his luck can hold for another week but both he and I realize that the odds are not in his favor. We would like to thank all the people who have supported and complemented him this season. But luck has a lot to do with his being undefeated. For example he over did Thanksgiving diner and wrestled 140 at his 1st dual against Campus Baldrige was at 135 Cornejo was at 145. With that kind of luck there are several freshmen in this talented class who could be undefeated. Disney Andover, Cotton Hutchinson, Eck Andale, Callahan Baldwin, Isenberg Gardner, Fisher Andale, and Madison Salina. I’m sure I’ve left out some but all these freshmen have a legitimate shot at placing high or winning at the state tournament. Almost forgot the unluckiest freshman Tishhauser Abilene. (Hope you are doing well Marvio)

Nope, Jon Doe, Drake was undefeated as a freshman. He lost the finals at Newton to Bill Ross of Ark City as a Sophmore and tied Noel of Derby in a dual. Both in his Sophomore year.

I've been fortunate to sit in the chair at the corner of the mat for a few Freshman State Champs, and have enjoyed watching Scott this year. Hopefully his luck will last through this weekend.
Thinking back through the years of the freshmen who made the finals, they all were different. Marc Hull was slick on his feet and rode like a back pack. Drake was explosive from any position even as a freshman. Shawn Silvis was deceptive. No one feared him because of his physique, but respected him after the match. Scott, is just tough. He's hard to score on, and doesn't panic if you do. All these guy's had one thing in common. None of them went on the mat expecting to lose.
