I don't know if Brady Esterl of Beloit is ranked or not, but he's a very fine wrestler. Always wrestled Baker from Hoxie tough (5-2 at Phillipsburg). I think he's top 4.

he is ranked 3rd....it was a very close match between him and baker....close to the end of the match he threw a headlock and baker was able to roll through....but it looked as if esterl could have stopped that but it was a very close...could of gone either way

olson from Trego is a returning state medalist at 119 lbs. York from Smith Center is tough as well. he lost in ot for MCL champion and placed ahead of Olson.

Lloyd over Baker? Not ready to predict that. Should be those two hands down in the state finals-I think Baker's coming on. He's my pick!

Last time they wrestled was at the NWKL tournament. Baker-8 Lloyd-4. Do not quote me on this as it is from 2nd hand info. Also heard it was not actually as close as that score but as I said this is 2nd hand info. One way or another two great wrestlers and who knows what will happen next time?

Bradly Esterl could give either of these two a pretty good match i think.

I'm not saying that anybody is automatic. But the Baker clan has a pretty good track record (excuse the pun for Travis who also won state in track). Coach Kirk Baker won 3 times, Travis 2 times, Trent 1 time, and Tyler 1 time. As far as I can recall, none of them have ever lost in the championship finals.

Wyatt Bechtel from Eureka is pretty good, I'm not saying he's going to dominate at state, or put Baker and Esterl to shame, but he'll hang with them.

I guess that proves that nobody is automatic. I'm looking forward to 2 more matchups between Baker and Lloyd this year.
As far as Travis Baker's 3rd potential state title is concerned, I wouldn't blame it on the referee so much as blaming it on unethical standards of the Mission Valley wrestler and coaching staff. Dykstra took an injury default after being the recipient of an overly aggressive cross-face. What a way to make the state finals!!
