Once again, the initiator of the topic is mistaken about the subject matter! If one reviews the topic “Whose the best wrestler in the state?”, it will be determined that of the twenty five (25) replies, after deleting the garbage posted from Jennings, the Dancing Chicken, and posts regarding football signings, there are fourteen (14) posts related to the subject matter. Of the fourteen (14) replies, five (5) do mention Gilliland, including four (4) of the first five (5). The statement “left out in nowheresville was a 3-2-1A wrestler by the name of Mat Gilliland of Hoxie”; is simply wrong. Gilliland is listed in thirty five percent (35.7 %) of the replies.

Dear Les:

Do not take yourself so seriously. As you well know, my question was legitimate regarding your post about Matt (or, as you spell it, Mat) Gilliland’s father. Inasmuch as I do not know the family, a reader would have no idea what the intent of your statement was. The statement was simply incomprehensible. Asking for clarification was a kind gesture on my part to offer you the opportunity to correct the statement, as I did not wish you to look like a, well you know.

You give yourself far too much credit; I was not “confused”! I was simply surprised!

Lighten up on the penance, the nuns at the parochial school I attended were not that strict, five hundred (500) was the general number assigned.

In any event, I got a good chuckle about the penance statement, as I had forgotten all about that form of favored discipline.

Mr. Salyers:

Regarding the spelling of Mat's name......
nevermind, I'll let Les enjoy this one.

But since we're on the topic, could I make a suggestion?? Perhaps you could start your own topic for "spelling and grammar errors." Then you could post all of your corrections to a consolidated list. Not all of the readers want, or are in need of, an english lesson. Most of us just want to read about wrestling.

Amen! and to only be mentioned in 35% of the posts as being TOP TEN material with three championships and 105 wins vs. 7 losses, and a Reno national championship to his credit definitely leaves him in the underrated category as there are no way 10 guys in the state that have three championships.

This topic was started on November 21, 2003 and at that time, under the topic “Who’s the best wrestler in the state?”; there were seven (7) posts related to the subject matter which mentioned two (2) or more wrestlers. Of the seven (7) posts, five (5) included Gilliland.

This young man was mentioned in over seventy percent (70 %) of the posts.

To be sure, this wrestler is one of the BEST in Kansas, and to be mentioned in that high a percentage of comments does not warrant being mentioned as “Most underated/unappreciated talent in the state”.

I wish him well on his quest for number four (4)!
