Manhatttan. My team wrestled them in the Ottawa inv. and they creamed everyone there by at least 30 points each. they have a very good and stacked team. i don't think that anyone can hang with them very much.

Everyone needs an inspiration like Tyler. He fought harder than anyone ever has on a wrestling mat and it was for his life.

As much as it pains me to say it, I would give the edge to St. Thomas Aquinas. I believe their big guns (Ceil Nisper, Med Jamie, some wee guys) will score them a lot of points, and they'll be able to get some points out of average wrestlers who get high seeds from their weaker regional. I'm also worried about Hutch, who placed well at Newton. (And us Hat Town folk have been bitten by Hutch before, so I'm a little paranoid.)

However, I do think a two-peat would be sweeeet.

I'm not ruling out Manhattan who beat Turner in a tournament this season.

I heard Goodard has had some trouble with injuries. I don't know how healthy the kids will be going back into regionals.Does anyone know how Edgmond is doing? My pick is Manhattan.

I think it's too hard to determine. I think you've got 4, maybe even 5 schools who will be duking it out at the state tourney. Obviously, STA, Hutch, Manhatten, and Goddard are the favorites. I think as of now STA has to be the favorite. They actually wrestled Hutch and Goddard at Blue Valley Northwest this year and won handily

Team scores: 1. St. Thomas Aqunias 209.5; 2. Turner 176.5; 3. Blue Valley 153.5; 4. Goddard 146.5; 5. Maize 139.5; 6. Hutchinson 139;

As a further comparison:

103: 2nd Micha Ankenman, HUT
3rd Quintyn Bolay, GRD
4th Bo Noles STA

112 4th Phillip Henes, STA
5th Jacob Hulsey HUT

119 4th Skyler Scott, STA
6th Tommy Edgmon GRD (lost this match due to injury)

125 3rd RJ Nill, STA
4th Russell Freeman GRD
5th Tim Sayers, HUT

130 3rd Mark Millstead, STA

135 2nd Brad Traina, GRD
5th Scott Markey STA

140 1st Phil Craig, HUT
4th Andy Hurla, STA

145 1st Romero Cotton, HUT
5th B Bonewell GRD

152 3rd Joe Ibarra, STA
- Chris Simpson placed 4th - not sure from where

160 6th EJ Walter STA

171 1st Chadd Posch, GRD
- Doesn't have 5th and 6th

189 1st Neil Cisper STA

215 2nd Mike Hammer STA

275 None

Thought this was interesting.

Looks like you got too many points on your board up there. STA scores 209 and everyone else scores 150...thats strange...its usually about 150-175 that wins it. And apparently the HAt gets no love. Interesting......

This wasn't a prediction of the state tourney, as you may have missed, Turner was in this list. And I'm fully aware that Turner is 5A. This was the results of the BVNW tourney where Hutch and Goddard, along with STA competed. It may or may not be a good indication as to where they may fall in the State tournament. If anything, it adds to the debate.

Boach, they just don’t seem to understand the power of the sweater vest. That’s worth at least 20 style points. And 1 for appreciation.

I'm going to switch my prediction. I'm saying Hutch. They just make me extremely nervous. (For good reason.)

Prant, Do me a favor! Just Say No to the Canadian Drugs. Hutch is going to be OK but they have way to many holes to fill. They have a good 103,119,125 an excellent 140 and 145. The 171 will fair well also. The 145 has been the surprise of the year but has a very tough regional with a lot of state experience. But 5 to 8 guys will be a long shot to win a State title. STA is the one to beat they are deep and will score a lot on the backside.

Red, you of all people should know that Hutch is always lurking. They wrestled like ma-ohns and won two state titles when there were better teams, and I will be eternally pee-pantsed whenever they're around.

Go Hat Town.
