We have five or six high school wrestlers who wrestled for our club at Subs at Pittsburgh this weekend. At least one is 16 & under. I really like every one of them, and I am glad they are getting the chance to wrestle and they are very positive influences for our younger wrestlers. We are definitely a better club because they are participating now.

I just wish we could experience at Districts and the State tournament what we had at Subs in Pittsburgh today. I believe we had nine full mats going. I could be wrong but I don't believe that anyone had to wrestle on a smaller mat. To me the waits between matches seemed pretty reasonable too. Maybe someone else had a different experience but I don't think we had a wait over 90 minutes for any of my son's matches.
I think our youth wrestlers who have made it this far deserve full mats and reasonable waits between matches at District and State. I just wish we could make that happen somehow and still have room for the older high school wrestlers who want to participate.

Here is the bump, Nigel. As you can see it was Will or I who introduced the subject.

Very good, and I applaude you for your research, hard to believe this was 3 years ago. I hardly remember posting what I did about it. Oddly enough im still saying the same thing about it now that I was then.

Nigel,

It is like I said you and are pretty much like broken records on most of these subjects.

On just about all these issues where I might be suggesting change and you are arguing that the system should not be changed, your side is winning because it never does change and it seems like the majority of the State Board agrees with you. So I guess you are pinning me on the outcomes of our annual discussions to use a wrestling term. The referee is raising your hand in victory and I shake your hand to congratulate you in your victories.

I have to say that this is one GOOD reason for allowing the high schoolers to come back to kids wrestling after high school season is over. Remember its all about the kids and we ALL want our kids to become the best that they can be.

Why would anyone want to exclude any of the kids. Growing the sport is what we seek the most,it would be foolish to downsize in my opinion. As long as kids are wrestling kids within their age group. My son was one of those young 8th graders with a 7/10 b-day, he took his lumps and eventually become a highschool state champ. I understand the concern but welcome the highschool kids. Besides the youger kids love being around them and are inspired by them.
