Kansas Wrestling Forums General Discussion High School Best Underclassmen for next year for National Forum

On the National site themat.com....it is asking for the best underclassmen in each state for next year...I need help from 3-2-1A up through 6a....give me stats for each guy(both h.s. and freestyle/greco...kids etc... and lets get a guy for each weight class...time to shut up other states and brag a bit on our boys!!! Incomming Freshman through Juniors for this next year...sorry class of 2004 is good but doesn't count.

Erisman = good. That guy could be something special if he doesn't give up wrestling for tennis, as I have heard he wants to.

I don't have any stats but, this weekend i saw Pete Eck tech-fall Brent Haynes [current tulsa national champ] 10-0 in a heart beat.

what schools do these guys go to?
what year are they?
what weight?
what honors?

Larry Perez from Topeka High will surely make his mark at 103 this year. He has been workin his *** off this summer and I think he will be worth watching.

Erisman - Desoto - 2nd place 4A 145 (lost only one match)- will be a sophmore probably around 145 or 152

Taplin - Abilene- 1st place 152 4A toughest bracket in any class at state). Will be a Junior probably around 152 or 160.

Strawn (sp?)- Holton - 2nd place 4A 152, again the toughest bracket I have ever seen! (lost only in regional finals and state finals)- will be a sophmore and I am guessing will wrestle either 171 or 189 next year.

Grater- Clay Center- 1st place 4A 140. Will be a junior I think, probably around 140 or 145 next season.

Madden - Norton - 1st place 3-2-1A 103. Will be a sophmore (probably back at 103).

Who was the big boy from Norton At Heavy weight this year?

The norton heavyweight was Michael Sprigg, who i beleive will be a junior.

I think that Tristian will be at 119 this year he has been getting a lot bigger

Neil Eirsman will be a sophmore and is a complete stud. He should be ranked very high at the national level for under classmen or upper classmen. His only loss in high school as a freshman was a controversial one to Eric Luedke in the state finals. Eirsman competed at the junior duals last week and did very well, and Luedke was very dominant and may have only lost one in match in freestyle.

Ross Taplin will also be a soph.(I think)and also represented Kansas very well and is also worth a spot in the national rankings.

Danny Grater is also a force, He dominated in high school and I don't remember him losing but a couple at the duals.

Joe Cornejo will be a junior and did pretty well at the junior duals, beating a couple of very good kids that were ranked in the nation, and he only lost one match at the cadet duals.

Grater has been a national champ and Eirsman has been an All-AMERICAN, so they are both probably already ranked.

Tristen Desazher is pretty salty too!

Taplin is very strong and is effective at throwing and pinning. His only loss this year was in the regional finals but he came back to win what probably was the toughest weight class in the state. He will be a junior.

I was very impressed with Erisman when i watched his matches at state. He was only a freshman but he wrestled like a junior or senior.

Grater is a stud. He went 39-0 and didnt give up an offensive point all year. He will be a junior.

Strawn from holton was another impressive freshman. With all these wrestlers being around the same weight classes, hopefully we will see a weight class next year that resembles what 321a 145 was this year.

Taplin will be a Junior next year.

Are there any other kids out there besides the ones that have been mentioned already?

andrew wagner will be lucky if he makes varsity he didnt even finish this past season

Im sorry chewbacca but im going to have to make this statement. I don't beleive that Grater and Taplin are going to end up in the same weight class next year. I know Ross has never been one to back down from a challenge and he gives me a very good match in practice so I know how good he is. Unfortunatly he can't go below 152 pounds, anything below that and he would be hurting himself. So if he and Grater are to meet it would be up to Grater to bump a class and wrestle up. Personally I don't see that happening but hey I have been wrong before.

WOW, Nigel found another way to remind us how good he really is and for me to remind him how egotistical he really is!!!

Nigel doesn't have to remind very many people how good he is. A lot of us know how good he is.

Nick Northern - Second in state (Double OT in final. Nick was 32-4 as a freshman. I think Nick is going to Fargo.
Sean Pietrzyk - State champion at 152, 5A as sophomore. 32-4. Beat 3 guys with over 30 wins at state (who finished 2,3,4) and beat #1 ranked kids in semis. Ranked #7 by USA Wrestling Mag. for sophomores. Was 3-1 at folkstyle nationals before leaving with injury. Only loss to #3 ranked kid score 1-0.

Chris Sutton-Kearn. State qualifier at 160. Was 22-6. Placed 4th at Topeka nationals and did well in Greco-Roman/Freestyle Cadet National Duals in Colorado
Ellsworth
Hard to bypass Simon Orozco (119?)
There are some very good underclassmen out of KC, but I don't know enough about them.

Hoxie has some really good underclassmen--- Farber,shamberger, come to mind, along with the freshman champion Baker. problably won't get any national attention but neither did Gilliland until he went to Reno, where he earned his recognition. Erisman would be my choice for absolute best underclasman, though, he has wrestled at just about every national event that was possible to be at a couple of years back and just didn't lose. another plus is that he is a total class act-- never starts anything or trash
talks anyone, just wrestles.
