I know one of the wrestlers out a Neosho, and he said that Jones went into one of their pracitces the other day and him and their 125 pounder thomped on him..... He said they took him down alot but he said jones was also in really bad shape....I asked him what move he did and he said he just shucked him everytime, and it worked everytime.

He won 3 state titles. I mean come on, do you think if shucking him worked every time, someone wouldn't hav figured that out by now?

So I wonder what is is you are trying to say with this post? Is this going to turn into a conversation on how nobody could beat Earl even though everyone knows how to do it, says you! Seriously why are you trying to degrade Earl? Yes he is human, yes he can be beat, but he wasn't the last three years and that counts for something. True if he wrestled in college he would get beat but so what? I think you need to lay off him

Jones is also in the final twelve wrestlers at High School Nationals. That's not too bad going against the nation's state champions.

lovetowrestle - don't believe everything your friends tell you. If they were really whompping on Earl - then tell us their names (the ones doing the whompping).

True, one should not believe everything they hear.
But, by the same token, many folks fail to recognize the difference between junior college and high school is often times as dramatic as the difference between junior college and NCAA DI.
If they are talking about Neosho's varsity 125 pounder, his name his Hector Mendez and he placed 4th at NJCAA nationals last month. He is pretty talented and has the speed and technical skill to pinpoint/capitalize on weaknesses.
The flip side to this is that Earl has a lot of upside too. It would be unfair to judge him against collegiate competition, yet. Give him some time to get adjusted to a collegiate practice room, before you pass judgement.
It would not be a lot different than watching a successful junior high wrestler square off against a high school wrestler in a Kansas Kid's qualifying tournament. No matter how talented the junior high kid, the high schooler would likely have the edge because of the additional training and experiences at the next level.

Whoops. Didn't know that Nehosha was a JuCo. Yes, I agree with Les. Thanks. Les, where did you get the results for the HS nationals?

I wasn't trying to diss on earl or anything but i was just showing how much of a difference it will be from high school to college wrestling even in juco. He is an awesome wrestler that is for sure but he won't have his strenght advantage that he now has once he gets to college and you will see that competition for him will get much tougher!

I remember a lot of people saying the same thing when he went from kids to high school, and he proved them wrong!
Does anyone know where he is planning on going to college?

I see that if he promotes himself he could go anywhere...a lot of coach's in college don't recruit anymore if they have established programs in the d2 and d1 ranks...they let their current wrestlers bring in some guys periodically...I see that Missouri Valley (NAIA) could see Earl as well as KSU club team or either Big 12's Nebraska or Missouri do to there connection with Kansas wrestling....Hays wouldn't be out of the question for him, but I don't think it would be the top choice in my book for a 3time state champion to go, though Ubben went, with different situations (football and wrestling) I'd love to see him in the D2's I think he could do some good wrestling in the lower weights and really challenge himself ...D2 wise I see UNK or UCO as good fits for him (1st and 2nd in the Nation, and have handfull of Kansans on there rosters)....not a big fan of UNO so I hope he doesn't end up there...can't forget the Junior college ranks either as Kansas boasts 3 high caliber teams in Colby, Labette, and Neosho, Labette and Neosho are closer to his neck of the woods and would be ideal to keep up on him, and allow him to be close to home and give him some more National Attention on collegiate level before choosing to move on. Regardless of what he or any other Kansan decides to do, I wish them the best of luck in whatever they go for and hope that if wrestling is in their collegiate futures, that they give any body that steps up against them the hardest most physical match they've ever experienced....take care and God Bless!!!
