Zach will be a freshman this year. We have just moved here from Ohio. Zach has been wrestling for 7 years and is an OK wrestler. He wrestled at the 96 lb weight glass last year and did OK. We have not decided on a school district yet as we have not visited any school distrcit to find out what fits our family yet. I did not post on here for all to think that Zach is a top notch incoming freshman - only to find out a good work out room over the summer to work on some areas. He has a lot of work to go to get to the top of the podium.

Mike, post anytime you want. I know from your email that Zach comes from some tough wrestling states and will do well in Kansas. Welcome here and enjoy the crazy summer and spring you are about to experience.

Chapman will have 5 league Champions from middle school at the high school level, hopefully we at least get 1 of them to come out for wrestling! Anyway they all should be pretty good for the team with 2 of them battling it out for 103.

I have decided to change my name and start school as a freshman at Manhattan once more. I also predict that I will be a heavyweight state champion as a freshman next year, and for three years after that at heavyweight as well. Those years I won't be a freshman, though. The second year I will be a sophomore, the third a junior, and the fourth a senior.

I am also the new head coach. I was hired yesterday by the athletic director, and Gonzales was fired right before my interview.

We'll see how long it lasts, but yes I am back. L Town is a great place to live and KU is definitely fun if you're into fun stuff. There are also two taco bells about the same distance away from my apartment there.

Thanks Aaron. As a parent of one of the boys who will be coming up to the high school, things should be interesting. Chapman won the junior high title for the first time in school history. This may not seem that big of a deal except to realize that they had to defeat Abilene and Clay Center to do it. Yes, it is just junior high but combined with some upper level high school kids, we should be alright.

Here some guys that I am surprised have not been mentioned yet in this topic:
Kyle Detmer, Maize Kids Club: I would say along with Furches that he has to be a definite threat to place very high at State as a Freshman. He has won a number of State titles including last year as a 1st year 14 & under at 120.
Ryan Garrett, Team Lightning Hutchison area: He has won 3 Kids State titles, he is a good technical wrestler. He was hurt and did not compete at State last year in his 1st year of 14 and under. It may take a couple of years to hear from Ryan since he is heavier around 155 this year.
Jordan Brown, Pittsburg Club: 4th last year at 145 in 14 & under, former State champion in 12 & under. I believe that he also won a Cliff Keen tournament that year in 12 & under. He is a very intense competitor who could place at State next year.
Colby Crank, Hutchison: 4th at 125 14 & under. He has won a couple of Kids State titles.
Mark Kolmer, Emporia: I know he is only going to be an 8th grader next year! Watch out for him in two years though. He was second this year in 14 & under 150 to Romero Cotton. Mark gave Romero a good match. I saw Mark look very impressive in a couple of matches during the season this year. He is very good on his feet for a bigger wrestler. He has a very effective ankle pick. I think he will be faster than most of the wrestlers in his weight group.
