Sometimes the ones with shoulder braces, but the ones with face masks don't really show much.

sort of depends on whose wearing the brace and the face mask doesnt it. Sometimes the pretty good ones are willing to wrestle in a little pain, maybe thats why it seems like it. Not the brace on the kid but the kid in the brace...

isnt it weird that there are a lot of great wrestlers that don't wear masks or braces, equipment doesnt make the wrestler...

there is a wrestler on our team that wears a face mask, he is an exceptional wrestler too, but ive also seen a wrestler or 2 with masks that get stuck in the 1st period, completly depends on the wrestler...

thats what you get for thinking... if you were a person who easily gets a bloody nose, it would be a smart thing to get a mask, i would rather wear 1 of those then get DQ'd for 2 much blood time.
and our 112lb wrestler has to wear 1 because he has a risk of surgery if he breaks his nose again

I would be real surprised to find anyone wearing a face mask that doesn't hate the darn thing.

I have always felt like a face mask should accompany a doctor's note to establish legitamacy for its need. Granted, they are uncomfortable suckers to wear but they do effectivly take away the force of a solid cross-face. As for intimidation, 103 lbers with moustaches always freaked me out.

I was kinda agreeing with TTC until kid who was wearing one b/c of broken nose chose in second match of tourney not to wear one (he had earlier) and on first cross face he bled like a stuffed pig. It was a mess. What about those plastic masks basketball players use? This one got penalized for headbutting with the thing.

I have a wrestler who has a tumor in his face and is required to wear a facemask. He has grown accustomed to the facemask and it is a normal part of his attire. Another recently had some teeth pulled. He seemed to wrestle well with it last weekend but he definately wants to not wear it. The facemask is not an advantage.

i think that a face mask is an advantage. u dont feel a crossface which gains many takesdowns and it is sometimes hard to get with out one. i wore one and it didnt really bother me except my vision was a little limited but it does help when someone tries to smash your face in

everybody has the option to wear a mask... so it shouldnt be counted as an advantage or a disadvantage

I dont think anyone who knows anything at all about what they are talking about thinks any brace of any kind is ever an advantage. I wore a mask once and hated it, never ever talked to anyone that didnt think it was tough as heck to wrestle with one. You get your head stuck everywhere you cant see you cant breath. Common get real, if a kid is tough in a mask or brace he is tough anytime because it is a very difficult task to wrestle with any impediments.
