Hey, I completely tore my ACL the first week of the season, as well as well as both of the ligaments you have in your elbows that require Tommy-John surgery. I was standing about ten feet away from the mat so I also saw the whole match.
Basically it could have gone either way in my opinion but Sonderegger pulled it out. In addition to just winning, he had his own share of injuries. First off he could hardly see out of his right eye due to a huge cut that I think that Johnson gave him. Also, he had a pretty big shoulder injury from sophmore year that he reinjured wrestling with his dad and I during his junior year. He didn't even wrestle in the league tournament it was so bad and he might have sat out more had the next tournament not been regionals.
These injuries he incurred also made him wrestle extremely defensively on his feet. If you look at his finals match he didn't even really try to take down Fitzgerald once he knew that he'd have the decision in double overtime. Earlier in the year he took Fitzgerald down twice in one match.
In other words, Johnson's a stud but I would take Sonderegger any day. Especially on his feet.
And I don't blame any of my losses on my injuries, so I'm not a huge fan of anyone taking that argument. I just choked pretty bad, losing to two kids I'd pinned with ease earlier in the year. It happens.

And anyways, Johnson came back and took third with an impressive win over Kromer. While he was pretty hurt, he could have pulled it out with that kind of lead that late in the match. Sonderegger just got it done.
Finally, in closing, go Manhattan, I hope you guys repeat! When I met most of you at state it was schweet. And I even have biology with Jhris! I'm just showing some SME love!
