After taking a quick look at the 4A regionals, Goodland obviously appears to be hosting the toughest regional where the top four teams will be meeting (1-Clay Center, 2-Goodland, 3-Abilene, 4-Colby and 8-Concordia) Then SFT (6-Fort Scott, 7-Santa Fe Trail, 10-Baldwin). El Dorado will have (5-Columbus, 9-Mulvane). Royal Valley has no currently ranked top ten teams. All of these regionals have teams just outside the top ten as well.

KSHSAA must have stayed up at night putting Abilene, Clay Center, Colby, Concordia, and Goodland in the same Regional.

Goodland's Regional is ridiculous it should not be a Regional tournament it might as well be the State tournament with all that talent. If a eastern kansas school can't win this year then they will never win. Who does the aligning for the Regionals? Clay Center and Abilene are not exactly western kansas are they, or have they moved. If you want to watch most of the top 4 finishers in state then go to Goodland so you can watch prestate.

This is funny, Cooker is complaining about a tough regional and I am complaining about a weak reagional. The only good teams in the regional are Turner and Bonner Springs, other than that it is a cake walk.

They are called regionals because they consist of teams from that region. It isn't the KSHAAs fault that many of the tough teams are close together geographically. You have to remember they may deviate slightly because they have to have a specific number of teams in each tournament. Probably not an easy job. Every year some teams get tough regions while others typically have easier regions. I am not sure how else it could be done that wouldn't create other problems like money, travel, where to send teams, etc. Anybody got ideas for a better system?

IN THE SAME REGION?? Clay Center is 5 hours from Goodland. it is the farthest regionals from clay center in 4A. Thats not exactly in the same region of the state.

I agree with kswrestler101. Does mamsawn know where Clay Center
and Abilene are in regards to the Goodland Regional?? We could
have traveled 1 1/2 to 2 hours to Royal Valley or Santa Fe Trail
Regionals, but instead we get to travel to Goodland, which is
approximately 5 hours away!! Sure hope the weather is good that
weekend!!!!

It will be a very tough regional and only the very BEST will survive!!
The worst is that there will be some wrestlers staying home that
would have scored some points for their team (possibly enough to
win a state championship) and may have placed at State!!

Good luck wrestlers and work hard during the upcoming season.

You guys make a good point. It isn't fair that Abiline and Clay Center have to travel so far. As I stated before they have to deviate and bring in other schools to the tournament so they can get 15-16 schools in each region to fill out the brackets. Yes, I know where Abiline and Clay Center are located. Try to find schools that are closer to Goodland and the other western schools in 4A. There aren't 2 other 4A schools that are any closer. That's the problem. Not saying it's right, just trying to explain how 2 tough central Kansas schools end up going out to Goodland. Think about Goodland who has to travel several hours every where they go. Plus they get up an hour earlier because they are in the mountain time zone. They have probably been traveling to central Kansas for several years for regionals and now it's their turn to host.
