I recently recieved some good news over the weekend. I have been selected for HMX-1 for the Marine Corps. What HMX stands for is Helicopter Marine Experiment, and what they do is guard the presidents assests, i.e. his helicopter, air plane or anything of that nature. HMX is the Marines that you see saluting the president and any other high govermental authority that may be on the aircraft at that time. There are only 160 Marines out of 3,000 MP's that ever get the oppurtunity to do this at a time. We had to go through a pre-screening just to even be possibly looked at. After that there was about 35 Marines that had been selected to go on w/ the screening (that's about 35 out of about 200 that started out). We then had to take a written examination to see what kind of personallity we had and if we were crazy or not. We then had to go in front of a screening board, which consisted of a Lt. Commander, a Captain, and a Master Gunnery Sgt., so it was a little tense situation. Well to sum up this little story, I was one of 11 to be selected for this Presidental Guard Duty, so it was a pretty exciting weekend for me. I graduate from Ft. Leonardwood, Mo on Friday, May 20th, 2005, and will be checking into Quantico, Va sometime this coming weekend. So wish me luck and look to see me saluting the Prestident on tv in about 6 months or so.
