Train the proper energy system when doing in season weight training. Due to the caloric demands wrestling puts on the body you shouldn't be tearing your muscles down as much as you would in the off season. Instead train your muscles to be more efficient at ridding your body of lactic acid. The following workout was given to me by a friend who trains at the olympic training center for wrestling. Its a four day circuit that will maintain and improve muscular endurance if done right.
Day One-(Legs)- 1. Box Jumps(1minute) 2. Single Leg Squats(15 each Leg). 3. Squat Press(15reps) 4. Power Cleans(5) 5. Squats- (10 reps).
Do these lifts consecutively with no rest between sets. Go through three cycles of this and you will feel like you just wrestled a match. If you want the rest of the workout just email me at walkermlb@hotmail.com and I'll paste it on an email..
