Situation
6 practice days until first meet- alot of new kids what do you teach them and how would one run practice
Plus what do you think about Wrestling being after Basketball and not before?
personnal I would like to see it after football so the kids could finish up with the Kids program. Plus the high school could use the ending of the season as a big push without alot of kids around.

Teach them a double leg and an escape. As the great Hatt Molovach always said, if you can always get the takedown and you can always get an escape, there is no way to lose a match.
Congrats, Aquinas! Great job, Hat Town! Salyer Rules!

I am thinking the same thing. Stand Up and take downs should rank right up there.

1st teach them a stance!!! You don't want to have a bunch of kids standing straight up and down. 2nd teach the dbl leg 3rd teach them to sprawl and cross face. That way they can drill them together. 4th teach them how to line up in referrees position. 5th teach a stand-up 6th teach one breakdown (arm-chop) and a half.
Assuming 2 moves taught a night along with some review time for moves learned earlier, you should be able to get something in from each aspect of a match by the 1st dual
Good luck!
Oh yeah, as far as the timing of the season, I just wish our District had Middle School wrestling. It would be nice if our freshman came in knowing the above techniques so we wouldn't have to start from scratch every year!

Headlock, cowcatcher, fatman roll, and all other trash that works at the middle school level. jk That way we make them unlearn all of those when they get to high school.
I really think you should go with what twink said only you might throw in a pinning combination like the half or chicken wing.

I think that the single leg would be the easiest to learn in such a short amount of time.

Ahhh, the Fulcher. One of the greatest moves of all time. However, Fris, one must spend years upon years perfecting this tool. It is not a weapon to place in the hands of kids who may or may not have gone through puberty. (An extensive knowledge of the English language also helps in perfecting this move-of-all-moves.)
ToachCwink's list sounds almost identical to what the great Hatt Molovach (no relation to Matt Holovach) taught me at good ol' Eisenhower Middle School. So, coaches, if you want your wrestlers to blossom into wrestling studs like Prant Garker, teach them his list.

Prant- Lets not desicrate the good Hatt Molovach's coaching name by saying he taught you anything. He may have attempted valiantly to, but I have seen the results, and they sure ain't purtey! But I do also know what raw material he had to work with! Here is how great the Hatt Molovach is, he was the first person I met from Hattown to give 3-2-1A respect! Now that is a wise man!
