Oh dingbat if only you know. Im sorry I worded my previous post incorretly. What I meant to say was the people that I have seen (certain wrestlers) have bad attitudes. I did not mean to say that everyone from the wichita area has bad attitudes. Whether or not I know the particualr wrestlers personally is of no consequence. I have seen them act in an unsportsmanlike, I've heard them talk in the same way. These are isolated cases though not entire teams.

Newman and York, nebr. are two schools that have taken on wrestling in the last 6 months or so. They are both Christian based educational institutions. Do you suppose they see wrestling as a spiritually enriching practice, or do you suppose they have attended several major tourneys in the area and feel that wrestling provides a rich mission field? If the latter is true, they might be after some of the less desirable folks in our sport. They could call their team the "dirty dozen" and do a really cool before and after program on the ones that they resurrect. That would be pretty good for business.

Thank you for the clarification. Your previous post was directed at entire teams. I'm glad that wasn't the case, or there might be some serious "conseqences."

Knox needs anger management. A few of those classes could go a long way for when it really counts.

Well Chapman has 1200 people and 4 bars...that's why everybody thinks Irishmen are alkies, because of the plethora of bars.

True that.

So this kid is putting on his shoes right, and his mom says, honey you're putting your shoes on the wrong feet, and the little kid says, no mom these are my feet

Just a question... why in the h*ll would they want to call their team the "dirty dozen" when college wrestling consists of ten wrestlers not twelve. High school doesn't even have twelve wrestlers on the roster.

You know how it goes — when you grow up somewhere that doesn't have flush toilets, watchin' that water go away is kind of confusing. Hopefully some more schools will gain Newman's brass and more people will get smarter.

I also have a good deal of respect for the Knox family. i have wrestled "toast" before and when he wants to be he can be a great wrestler but at the other times you have no clue as to who he is. It is his decision whether he wants to wrestle in college or not. if not then he had good credintials. at least he is not a KU.

I tell you what...I hear a lot of hearsay on the subject matter of the teams/clubs not being mentioned as it pertains to behavior. It doesn't take a genius to know that everyone is talking about Wichita West and Team of Hard Knox. I don't know anything on Wichita West and used to believe all the hearsay on both teams when it came to negative things. But, this past week what I saw up close and person from my own eyes TOHK is probably one of the finest teams in the state in my opinion. They are driven on winning and are good at it and that's why everyone throws fits about them...because they have intensity where others lack.

I also happend to run into one of there coaches who looked pretty tired and he was funny and in good spirit. I also was in the area with another coach of TOHK in the Hospitality room, and thought these guys were laid back and really cared about the sport. Believe all the negative hearsay you want like I used to...but until you meet these individuals or get to know the competitive side of them...BACK OFF!

On another note:

To all the kids throughout the state congrats on a great year whether you won no matches or were a state champ, you all are winners for competing in the sport of wrestling!

I feel everyone should just leave Toast alone. I thing its great that everyone can bash on a "kid" he is a great wrestler and a good care whom I know very well and who respects me. For those who bash him at Regionals he made a mistake and if you were not there dont talk about Mr. Salyer is the only one that I know was there. Coach Dryden does everything he can for these kids as well as other coaches and people in that wrestling room. We try to guide them, but sometimes kids do what they want. what do you do throw them off the team? Then where so they go? If they get in trouble when they could have been in practice how do you feel then cause it was you who threw them off the team? Look at a wrestler by the name of Tristen Deshazer. One heck of a wrestler if you ask me and more sportsmanship shown on the mat than most people and as humble as they come. Alot of things have changed at West trust me and coaches and refs have said so. Even if some ref still hold a grudge.

It sure would be nice if you all could get some lives and quit judging high school students. You all seem to know what everyone should do, but a one thing i do know is you should just worry about yourselves.

B.L. Chadwick? THE B.L. Chadwick?

Certainly you can attest that Toast is not a terrible human being, as some of these people (*coughSalyercough*) seem to think.

And even if he was, what better school to reform someone than a religious institution? Last time I checked, Christianity was all about making people better.

I'm excited to see a new college program. Can someone tell me where to send a donation to Newman? Also, can we be sure our donations will be used only for the wrestling team? We wanted a four year college to step up, now it's time to put up our money to make sure they have a chance to be a quality program.

I don't think there is alot of juding going on in this topic. What I think it boils down to is that a young man had some problems in the past, and they might catch up to him now in the present. I personally don't have an opinion about said wrestlers as far as their characters are concerned. What I did see was the actions they displayed. Does being young grant you immunity for your actions? Certainly not, at least the courts don't think so. You have to be able to own up to your actions, the things yo usay and do you need to be accountable for. Do these wrestlers deserve a change to continue thier wrestling career? Definatly I think. Will they get the chance? Probably.
