Randy:

I had the impression that you did not need anything that technical to submit results. I thought all you would need would be either a word processing or a spreadsheet program. If that is true than most people who can post on this website would have that capability. At the bottom of the Results page, Mike Juby states that you could even just send a fax although the quality of the posting would not be as good as a computer file.

If the club running the tournament did not have access either to a computer or a person willing to type the results and send them in, I would think you could hire it out pretty reasonably. I don't think you should expect someone from another club to do this for you for free. If I was doing it for another club's tournament, I would charge for my time and have the club sponsor write the check to either my son's club or some other wrestling organization. I would also be willing to post them for free for the Johnson County Classic that my son's club co-sponsors. Someone else volunteered and did that this year. I helped set up tables, worked on a table and helped in the cleanup. A lot of the people who have called out in various topics for tournaments to post are people who do give of their time to wrestling in various ways.

I think posting results promotes our Kansas youth wrestling program. I am sure everyone likes to see the results on a timely basis (within 10 days from the tournament end would be reasonable, within a week would be better). A lot of tournaments do post them and people have grown to expect them. Mike Juby has recently endorsed timely posting as part of the tournament execution (see Maize results topic).

Overall I think we do a pretty good job. We are miles ahead of Missouri and I'm sure some other States in posting our results. There are a couple of tournaments that are big tournaments that people across the State are always very interested in (Salina, Topeka, Maize, Wichita, etc.) and some of these big tournaments do post on a timely basis. It took Salina a month to post this year and I think that is too long. Everyone wants to know who did well at those tournaments because they know they are wrestlers who will probably be in the running at State. These big tournaments take in a lot of money and I would think should be able to afford hiring someone to post their results if they cannot find a volunteer. I really think it is something that should be part of a tournament's plan.
