Here is the link to the website for the February 4th Goddard Invitational. I hope to keep it updated throughout the day. I should also have the team score up and available by the end of the day. http://www.goddardusd.com/staff/ghswrestling.htm

Mike, This year it is not pool formatted. I liked the format, but I ended up spending most of the day getting matches coordinated. Another problem was when we had uneven pools. It threw team points off. Furthermore, if we had all ten teams bring full teams, we may not get the wrestling over until April.
I tried to add teams for this year, and we did add one. Last year we had a lot of teams show interest, but I think it was due to tournaments getting canceled by the ice storm.
My hope is to build a great tournament. Our facilities are too nice not to have one of Kansas' best tournaments, but it's tough to get people interested. I'd love to have teams from all over the midwest come. To do so, we'll have to change the date so that it's earlier in the season. If anyone has suggestions or would be interested, please e-mail me.
In the future I'd like to have a tournament set up similar to the Colby Duals. They do a tremendous job. If we could get some Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Texas teams to come it could be a premier event.

Remember, I was the first one to show interest in your tournament last year but was sent packing b/c my retired A.D. sent the contract in last. If you have a dual tournament I would consider it if I am allowed to get in. The week before Christmas Break would be a great time for a tournament I believe. Church

Stafford is coached by a friend of mine, Jay Sweet. They have a few boys that have done really well this year. You can bet they'll be a tough group of kids, and with more mat time I'm sure his teams will make a lot of noise.
Our tournament will have all sorts of teams in it. Eventually, I'd like to have a multi-state, multi-class event.
Have a good one, Ryan

jay sweet is an exelent coach. he is determind to build a winning program at stafford. we have tradition (since early 70's) and it seems we have kids that want to partisapate. coach sweet is not afraid to wrestle bigger schools. i think he will produce staffords first state champ within the next year or two. more than likely jesse gantz (103 right now- freshman). he also has a very good asst. coach in steve gantz. keep watching staffords results, remington tourny, hoisington reginals, and keep supporting small school wrestling.

Sorry for any inconvienence Coach: Ask Jilka to not be so tight with his budget and spend some money on real wrestling software instead of searching the internet for the free stuff. The software used by many high schools is The Wrestling Tourney and they can be contacted at: Preferred Educational Software - The Wrestling Tourney!

I use the stat program, and next year I plan to add the palm pilot version to enable me to speed up the process of inputting stats on my home computer. We also use their tournament program.

We also use their tournament program. Last year Bob Phillips from Holton High School purchased several tournament software packages to receive the bulk purchase discount. If I may, I suggest contacting Bob to inquire if he has any packages remaining. It may save you some money and help deplete his inventory. If you need Mr. Phillips contact information please let me know?
