I read on here about Altman being a national champ and Sharky being a triple crown winner. Yet, as one who follows HS wrestling - I know nothing about these kids. Congrads to them on their accomplishments.

What grade will they be in this year and what HS do they go to?

Lastly, have they wrestled Free style yet at Fargo? If not, when does that happen?

Thanks.

I didn't see Altman placing at HS state - is that correct?

It seems odd to be a national champion but not place at state.

Has he placed at HS state wrestling tourney? Thanks.

No Altman hasn't. He was only on varsity for about 2 weeks then got beat out. He has never made it to high school state. I do know, however, that he is like a 6X kids state champ. He's a good wrestler, but he doesn't hardly weigh enough to do any damage at 103, the last I knew he was only weighing in at about 95, but I heard that he was dropping down to like 91 or sumthin along those lines for Nationals.

As mentioned earlier, Donnie will be a Junior next year. He will be a Senior during Nathan's Freshman year, 2 years down the road but both on the same team. By then Derby will be stacked at a number of weights and will be on the rebound of working towards a state championship if not more. Nathan has some weight to gain, which we have already started on. Hopefully he will be in the low 90's next year and then up to 110 0r 115 his Freshman year cutting down to 103. If I am not mistaken Sharkey will be either in the 7th or 8th grade next year, he as well has some weight to gain.

W/ the new league going into effect I'm not sure. I think they may still base it upon the number of enrolled students for the '04-'05 season. Should be interesting though to see how this new league works. To bad I won't get to go watch some of it till late Jan. to early Feb cuz I gotta leave for boot camp in Oct, but still can't wait to see how it works out though.

The wrestling classifications will not be released until after schools submit official enrollment numbers.

The attendance numbers for all classifications except football are taken from official enrollment on September 20 for the tenth, eleventh, and twelfth grades.

Football is the only high school sport which has a two (2) year classification.

After I got to thinking about it, I realized that I got my info confused. The new league (Ark Valley Chisom Trail) doesn't have anything to do w/ what class the schools will go into. Sorry if I confused anyone.

Hard to believe that a Fargo national champ (Altman), cant even crack the starting lineup of his high school. Was the 103lber at Derby that beat him out a huge 3lber? Did he get out muscled because of his lack of size or was the kid a stud?

Our 103 starter (Joey Stephens) was a decent sized kid, droping from about 115 down to 103. He's a pretty good wrestler, Donnie started out our season at 103, then when Joey got his weight down, he beat out Donnie for the starting line-up.
