Recently I have been asked by a group of students that are attending a local community college here in Kansas if they could get their college to approve wrestling if the public of this state would help back the program. The college has a new athletic Director who sounds very interested in hearing this topic, and I am wondering since Kansas has only a few colleges that wrestle what kind of support would the college get?

What community college are you referring to? Is it Johnson County Community College or Kansas City Kansas Community College? I am asking about these because of your NE Kansas address and I think either of those would draw from a good base of wrestlers. Johnson County's location close to Kansas City (including the Missouri side of state line), Olathe, Overland Park, Gardner, Lawrence and Topeka could draw good wrestlers and strong public interest. Is the athletic director really interested and what specific type of public support is he or she seeking? I am sure we could get some people to talk with the Athletic Director if there really is in interest.

I agree that we need to know where the college is at in order to generate interest. A kid that is from Kansas City would probably not go all the way to Colby for Juco if he could go closer to home at a juco in state or at a bigger school near him.
