....a little history...was a state qualifier his freshman year, the only freshman qualifier at 145 that year that had Johnson, Pyle, etc; battled the flu, ended up 1-2 that year in 2003 and finished 30-11 as a freshmen at 145. ranked #27 in the top freshman and sophomores in the country 2004 by USA wrestling magizine; lost at regionals battling a back injury, when regionals had 5 of the 6 top ranked wrestlers at noton that year. Smull was ranked 5th at the time. he has beat both Jonas, and Bailes, earlier in thier careers (freestyle), defeated 2 colorado state champs last year in december and january, before ending his season at the hays senior classic in a season ending knee injury in the semis, finished 21-3. he has had some bad luck in the past, broken jaw freshmen year in football, never played, but in junior and senior year has had back to back 1000+ yard seasons in the fullback position, torn LCL last year in january, suffered a severly sprained foot in the smithcenter loss in the first quarter, perhaps the difference in the game. but thats okay. adversity has made him better, made him tougher. made him stronger. if you over look him thats okay, he prefers it that way. he will be silent and do the talking on the mat or on the field. he is extremely goal oriented, the goal; the gold in february. we shall see, but i have no doubts. if you doubt his ability just ask some of the NWKL coaches in the league.
