The award is not the problem, the problem is the out of control parents who take issues like this to far!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Colby used to give out an award for the fastest pin. You had to place first. I think that is a better way to do. That leaves no question on how you get the award. i also think that you can not watch all those kids and make a decision on who was the outstanding wrestlers.

I like the Indy O.S.W., I think it should be the kid with the most pins wins, I feel it really gets the kids fired up to wrestle hard, I realize that it may not be the best wrestler in some cases, do to heavy weights have less kids. If you want to get your kid more matches, have them wrestle the next age division up, then they most likely will not be a heavy weight and if you have a stud then they can win the O.S.W. in the next division at a weight other than HWT, where there are probally more kids to wrestle, thus making more matches. Just my opinion.

Just out of curiousity, I have a question about the fastest pin concept. I did not wrestle in high school and I do not have a very strong understanding of wrestling techniques or strategy. It seems to me though that if we were encouraging a wrestler to go for fast pins that we might be giving them more incentive to use the head and arm throw (I may be using the wrong term) on the initial takedown. I thought wrestling coaches did not necessarily want that to be a wrestler's initial takedown move.

I guess that would be a down fall to using the fastest pin concept. I never really thought of that. So that probably isn't the best thing either. Maybe they ought to just not give a outstanding wrestling award, since none of the ways is perfect.
