really, does it matter who this dood is - it's appearant he doesn't get any attention and wants to thrive on the past. maybe he's an accomplished wrestler, who cares, most of us have shared success. his/her time is over and he cant get past that. quit giving him the attention he's so passionate to get. advice: learn from his positive comments and ignore the rest!

I disagree, the topic is simply a question asking gutwrench1 if this was his biography... For the record, I sent Richard that e-mail. I did it with the hope that he would just own up to the fact that he was incorrect to introduce a topic that accuses a public wrestling figure who makes his living from wrestling of being gutwrench1. Richard, I view your topic as more than simply putting forth a question. It was also a pretty direct implication that Tony was indeed gutwrench1. I really do believe it had potential to hurt Tony's business from Kansas side wrestlers. I know when I first started reading this topic and understood that you were implying it was Tony that I had a sickening feeling. I felt that you would not be the type of person to make such an implication without being pretty sure, so I thought oh no maybe gutwrench1 is Tony. I still think you owe him an apology.

I also question a moderators attempt to “out” a member of the forums, whether you agree with them, like them, or not.

Slander and libel From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (Redirected from Libel)
In English and American law, and systems based on them, libel and slander are two forms of defamation (or defamation of character), which is the tort or delict of publishing (meaning to a third party) a false statement that negatively affects someone's reputation . "Defamation" is the term generally used internationally, and is accordingly used in this article where it is not necessary to distinguish between "libel" and "slander".

Good luck with a slander or libel case regarding this issue. I'd love to see someone go to a judge with a claim of "Well your Honor, he made mention that an anonymous character on a wrestling forum might be this guy Nick. Based on this claim, Nick's entire empire has come crashing down and I think he should be paid a couple hundred thousand dollars" Ha ha ha. BigPin I think you should know that winning Slander and Libel suits are one of the most difficult cases that you can prove. We still have a thing called the 1st ammendment in this country, and judges don't easily overlook it. In fact you are never going to win a case where someone offhandedly mentiones another person's name. Now if Richard were standing on street corners which huge signs saying "Gutwrench1 = Nick Purler" and handing out flyers, then you might be able to get a pinky toe into the court room, but thats about as far as it would go. You guys amuze me very much

lol, I didn't accuse anyone of libel or slander. I simply made a Richardesque post regarding information about libel and slander.
By the way, he called out Tony Purler, not Nick.

i think theres a double standard for Richie ,he can say whatever and get away with it . Have you ever had a conversation with Mr. Purler, if ya had you would know he doesnt have time to play unlike yourself and me. I also agree that if someone listens to you they might be bias towards TONY. But anyways your probably helpin more than your hurtin .

Nigel, the comment was not against Nick, it was against Tony. If gutwrench1 is not Tony, it is an inappropriate comment and accusation. As one who promotes themselves to: Strive to be a reliable pursuer and presenter of fact! it is possible that erroneous accusations have been made that will have an affect on Mr. Purler’s wrestling academy due to the negative attitudes that some have towards gutwrench1. The truth is, that the comments made on these forums are worse than those made on a street corner because Mr. Purler is in the business of providing wrestling training to individuals who would frequent these boards. Now if gutwrench1 is Mr. Purler than there is nothing inappropriate, other than the fact that a moderator would be acting in a way not becoming his intent and purposes on these boards. Either way, Mr. Salyer has acted inappropriately. It would be equivalent to someone making erroneous comments regarding you and your officiating which were not true. Then on that subject, we all know that you have come to your own defense numerous times, and at times vehemently.
Sincerely,
James

Voice of reason,
Every week coaches get upset at the calls that are made by officials, and many times they walk around the venue telling others that "That referee is (insert random insult and erroneous information )" That is their choice to do so, although it could get them kicked out of the tournament. Do you see a bunch of officials on here throwing around ideas of lawsuits and damanding apologies for it? I would think by now it had become clear that coming onto this forum to complain about a referee is the surest way to make yourself look real bad.
Mr. Salyer's mentioned that Gutwrench COULD be Tony is nothing more than an offhand remark meant as a guess to who it may be.
Regardless of what Richard Salyer says, I doubt very much it is going to hurt the reputation of Tony Purler, especially since as of this moment is an unfounded claim. What it amounts to is tabloid commentry. As I've said before none of this would hold any water whatsoever in a court room, so im kinda wondering why all this legal talk is going on anyway. If Mr. Salyer wants to guess that gutwrench is any member of this world, than that is his right. It is not Mr. Salyers fault that gutwrench portraits himself the way that he does.

I'm going to let Richard slide on this one :-) as if he cares whether I do or not, since he gave me a free 6 dollar ticket to the complimentary room for lunch last year. Also I had full intention of paying him back by giving him a book of Taco Shop Bucks but my daughter stole them out of my truck. lol
