At the Russell Regional there were a number of wrestlers who should have qualified but didn't because of injury or upset. Just wondering what wrestlers this happened to across the state?

Who? What upsets? At 160 Kreutzer, Tjaden and Juby jusst didn't make it through. It was stacked! Who else? Moser at 71? Great kid, tough break with the knee.

Taking a guess, but would you wanting to include Kurt Hershey of Hugoton? I would have thought he would have made it, but it would have been a difficult road. Placing 3rd last year at 130lbs would have made the seeds different for sure.

I believe a Connely (sorry if spelling wrong) from SFT at 152 defaulted out due to injury, then we can't forget Scheideman of Wamego, who I will guarantee will come back full throttle next year as a senior and whoop up on someone!

Kyle Reitcheck of Oakley getting beat out was a disappointment. In fact, it was a HUGE surprise that he didn't make it. There's always good kids that get left home from the West Regional, but Kyle was ranked first through a portion of this season and seeded second at Regions.

Chris Holly (275) of Shawnee Heights got beat in the finals by Joe Brown of KC-Turner, who started the day with a 0-0 record in place of their regular starter, Rodriguez. An unknown beating the #4 ranked HWT!

What happened with Meinert of Pleasant Ridge @ 160? He was ranked 6th. Did he get injured?

Kyle Reitcheck not making it was a huge suprise, when i saw his side of the bracket i figured he would probally pin his way into the finals, but the kid from leoti stepped it up and then Brungardt made kyle wrestle his kind of match which is low scoring and then win it at the end. Just another reason we need to find a way to split up this regional a little bit more.

Not getting to attend was a MAJOR disappoitment...first time I haven't been to a regional in Kansas wrestling in 10 years. Luckily, I have this trusted forum to keep me updated and informed.

Have you seen what that Bechtel upset has done to 125 at state? FIRST round match:

(Jr) Wyatt Bechtel - Eureka (31-5)
vs.
(Jr) Matt Migchelbrink - Atwood (13-1)

I'll be watching!

Migchelbrink by fall.... at best for bechtel is that he will get beat by only 4 points.... I don't think you can bet against a returning Runner-up.

I agree with you ryan that migchelbrink will win but something i have noticed about this weight class this year is there seems to be one great equalizer. The headlock, i have honestly more 125 pounders throw the head lock this year than anyother weight class and probally more than i have seen since i wrestled federated. No one is afraid to throw it and they are all pretty succesfull at it. I was just wondering if anyone else had noticed this trend at this weight class.

I seen Boultinghouse of Great Bend and Rusty Wickham wrestle at 119 and Wickham was beating him and Boultinghouse threw a wicked head throw and end the match that fast. It was a sight to see.

I'm curious what happened to Kepka from Lyons. He looked pretty good as a freshman last year, and I can't find him on the brackets this year.

Dane Kepka wrestled in the 119 lb. weight class at the Hoisington Regional and lost in the first round to Kevin Urban from Ellis; 7-0 and defauted (injury?) his second match.

Hoisington Regional - 119 lb. Bracket
