Let's have a post to let our guys know how proud we are of them!

I want to congratulate all of those wrestlers who gave it their all throughout the season and came up just short of the State Tournament.

I will start by saying how proud I am of my son, Nicholas Mueller. He is a freshman who earned his varsity spot by beating out upperclassmen on his team. He then went on to compile a 30-10 record, with one tournament championship. The only one to beat him that was not a Jr. or Sr. was Nathan Kastings of Lyons. Of those Jr. and Sr. that did beat him he split with 3 of them and won the series 2 to 1 with 2 others. You are awesome son, both on and off the mat! I'm PROUD to be your mom!

Nice post from a proud Mom...and she should be. We often celebrate the best, the streaks, the winningest, the Most Exciting, etc. but fail to recognize those who do not make it to State. There are illnesses, injuries, taking ACT/SAT tests and, sometimes, just not making the right moves, but it should not diminish from the effort given. Just having our children in the gym is an achievement and having them in the best shape they will ever be in is ample reward. I also salute those whose season fell short by one week, but participated in the best sport available to young men and women.

I think there's a quote about a preference is having wrestled and lost than participating in other sports!

Are you making a POSITIVE difference in the life of kids?

Wait until after State is over... I remember that feeling all too well. It's the hardest thing I ever went through in high school when I walked off the mat and heard my coach tell me "It's been a great 4 years, I'm going to miss you".
