Curtis Chenoweth is the 2006 NAIA 174# National Champion. He won in overtime 7-5 with a lateral drop.

I know this is not high school news but it still deserves to be in here.

Not bad for a guy who never won state.

Congratulations Curtis

How did JD Johnson do this year? I saw somewhere he is listed as a sophmore, is this true? Great kid but surely has to be approaching 23 or 24 years of age.

He went 3-2 at nationals losing to the eventual runner up in sudden victory and the eventual 5th placer as well. As for age, your clock doesn't start until you are full credits in college, also wasn't he in the military first? If that's the case, then he's got all the eligibility the website lists.

JD Johnson is a sophomore, but at this point he is not planning on wrestling next year, but he still plans on finishing his degree at Newman. This is not new news to the Newman wrestling team, but i just thought some other people would like to know what's going on.

If i got any details wrong JD i'm sorry.

Congratulations on a great wrestling career JD.

Way to go, Stud! Shows what a Kansan with skills on his feet can do. Take an unknown kid, rev him up and watch him chew through the competition. I am impressed!
