Also, I checked my resources — the Kansas wrestler in question was Jesse West, who was 1994 and 1995 state champion at Emporia at 112 pounds. In 1997 he reached the 3A (big school) state finals at 112 for Iowa City High and lost in overtime to Josh Budke of Cedar Falls. He had beaten Budke three times during the regular season.
