This is old news, but I didn't see it in any of the college signings. Simon Orozco of Ellsworth is attending school and will wrestle for Harvard this year. I don't believe Ivy League schools give athletic scholarships, but Simon's going to indeed wrestle there. Simon's brother Ben, a two time State Champion is also attending Harvard as a grad student working toward his medical degree.

So either you start or you don't and your clock goes either way.

I think that Mike Holliday is correct about no athletic scholarship, but I also believe that Simon is receiving a pretty attractive academic financial package. Simon was recruited for academic reasons by both Harvard and MIT, and was offered a full-ride academic scholarship to KU. Both Ben & Simon are great athletes, but they were also taught by their parents to put an emphasis on learning in the classroom as well. Best of luck to both of these young men!

Ben was a state champion in both cross-country & track, and attended Tulsa University on a running scholarship. Simon led his team to a cross-country state title last year (I think he finished 4th).

Right you are Mike. Ben btw was a 2 time state wrestling champion; 2 time state cross country champion; and 2 time 2-mile champion in addition to state medals in the 1 mile, 800 and 3200 meter relays. As good as they were in athletics, I think they might have been even better academically. Harvard ain't bad!
