Facts are facts, and making statements which are blatantly false should not go uncorrected.
Your friend attempts to come across as knowledgable of certain matters and has no qualms making statements which are not supported by the facts. If this were an isolated incident I am sure it would be ignored, however this pattern of behavior seems to keep repeating itself. I can't help but find irony in that statement coming from you.
